George Lucas' offical stance (interviews) has always been that he realized back in December 1982 that a Jedi would not seek revenge, and thus the teaser and the already printed posters by Lucasfilm were recalled and destroyed when possible. |

"Star Wars: Episode VII" is the working title. That has always been the working title since the first prequel. So this title rumor is interesting, it could be total fake or the real thing. Possibly something being considered to be the title.

Exclusive! Character and Plot Details Revealed For ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’
Movie Cricket recently attended a Star Wars convention in Lancashire where we learnt some very interesting things about J.J. Abrams’ ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ concerning Star Wars Rebels. Today the Star Wars Fan Fun Day in Burnley, Lancashire played host to a number of famous names from the Star Wars galaxy. Movie Cricket sponsored the Star Wars: Dinner with the Stars from the evening earlier where we were lucky enough to get exclusive interviews with a number of the star actors. During today’s convention we caught up with John Morton who played Dak Ralter in the Empire Strikes Back as well as filling in for Jeremy Bulloch as Boba Fett, saying the famous line “He’s no good to me dead.” John Morton had a lot of teasers for us which we will bring you over the coming days, but the pick of it was his insider knowledge on ‘Star Wars Rebels’ and its connections with J.J. Abrams’ upcoming ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’. Star Wars Rebels is an animated TV series set between the events of Episode III and IV, Star Wars Rebels takes place in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape. John Morton informed us that the characters, story lines and direction of Star Wars Rebels is not only key to the success of Star Wars: Episode VII, but will directly influence and shape it. “Rebels is the key. Rebels will provide the link to bring in the continuity from Clone Wars, the Original Trilogy and the Prequels to enable LucasFilm and Disney to tee-up ‘Episode VII’. If you want my informed opinion, it will enable ‘Episode VII’ to leapfrog over the whole trilogy.” John Morton confirms that the previous movies will be informed by Star Wars Rebels then extend on to the new trilogy of films being produced by Disney after their £2.5 billion buyout. The new animated series will not only provide a bridge between Episodes III and IV but it will develop a story that flowed in the background of the original films, leading in to the new feature films starting with ‘Episode VII’. “The key that is going to make this work is Rebels. Rebels will set up and point the direction for ‘Episode VII’.” Morton teases that the animated series produced by Disney will establish story lines that will develop in the background of the original trilogy and give a new intake of characters and dynamics to the future movies. “The characters they are creating in Rebels will be around in ‘Episode VII’.” John Morton, star of Empire Strikes Back, suggests that the characters developed further in Star Wars: Episode VII will have their origins in Star Wars Rebels! This is breaking news provided by a genuine Star Wars star. Further on this, with the characters being announced for Star Wars Rebels already – we can begin to speculate which of the announced Star Wars: Episode VII cast could play who in the new film. Oscar Isaac will play Kanan – the cowboy Jedi. Could you imagine a better synopsis for the offspring of Han Solo and Leia Skywalker? We also expect Andy Serkis to play Zeb – the muscles. With Andy Serkis confirmed to bring a motion captured character to the film, how about this muscles bound, gun-wielding big guy? Also, Billy Dee Williams is reprising Lando as a voice role in Star Wars Rebels. With him not being announced in the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII – does this mean the actor will be in J.J. Abrams’ movie in at least a cameo capacity? The characters are yet to be confirmed, but if John Morton’s words are anything to go by, we may have just had the characters and basic plot line revealed for Star Wars: Episode VII. An Ancient Evil flows a bit better than The Ancient Evil as a Star Wars title to me. Still prefer Legacy of the Force myself, but I'm curious to see what comes about!
Sydow and Driver as Sith sound interesting. Anyone else think it won't be a Sith as a villain this time? Maybe something worse? |

He is tons older, been married for decades, and most likely has at least one full grown child, so for him to have the same demeanor as he used to wouldn't really fit. He was already becoming a changed man in ROTJ anyways. He should still have some witty lines and a good smirk, but the scoundrel bit really shouldn't be who he is anymore.

Bob Iger Talks Star Wars During Earnings Conference Call
During today's earnings conference call (still on-going as we write this up) Bob Iger said new Marvel films will launch during first weekend of May in 2015, Avengers Age of Ultron, and also in May 2016 with Captain America 3, he continued with this statement to Star Wars... "and we made some other news last week when we announced the cast of Star Wars Episode VII which includes some very familiar faces as well as some exciting new talent and the reaction has been tremendous. I was at Pinewood Studios with JJ Abrams a couple of weeks ago and left more confident than ever that Episode VII will be the extraordinary movie Star Wars fans have been waiting for". More news as we get it - they're currently taking questions... UPDATE 22:29 GMT: Here's some answers from Bob... Three spin off films being targeted for Star Wars before the end of the decade, nothing more to say on these at present. Episodes VII, VIII and IX will be released every other year [assume 2015, 2017 and 2019]. We are amazed at the passion for Star Wars since the acquisition. UPDATE 22:55 GMT: Call ended with no further direct mention of Star Wars. Source: The Walt Disney Company http://www.jedinews.co.uk/news/news.aspx?newsID=16707 |

I'm really looking forward to this. I always felt that Abrams's style was more appropriate for a Star Wars film than Star Trek.
Plus we're getting John Williams back? Icing on the cake. But most of all, I'm looking forward to people liking Star Wars again. |
