Default pausing Star Trek

Unlike all my other BluRay 3d titles, when pausing "Star Trek:Into Darkness", the 3D disappears while paused and reverts to 2D while being paused.

Did I get a defective disc or is this how it's supposed to be?

The movie itself seemed to play fine in 3d, but all my other titles retain the 3d while paused.

Which makes me wonder if I'm seeing this particular movie properly or not while playing it or if I have a defective disc or not.

Its fine, a lot actually do that, try pressing down on your remote or controller (I have a ps3), that often times returns the 3d on the pause.

I get that on certain disc also. I like watching 3D on my Opppo 103 cause it gives you a clean screen free of the pause icon after a few seconds. After that, it's up to the movie studios decision whether to have that time bar on the screen permanently or not. I like the clean screen and nothing else.

The PS3 keeps the 3D on pause (for other disks), but reverts to 2D while putting up its own menu.
I remember when that was supposed to be the SHOCKING! failure of the PS3 compared to standalone 3D players, now it just, eh, happens.

Question Why is the picture in 3D when you press pause on some discs and in 2D on others?

Just curious why its still in 3D when you select pause on some discs and in 2D on others.

Good question. I like to pause when there is a good pop-out. Also, I like a clean pause screen without the movie time info and picture thumb nail or the pause icon.

Huh? I've never seen a 3D movie pause in 2D, can you name some examples?

Same here, I've never run into that before either. Maybe it varies from player to player.

I recently noticed this for the first time with the 3D disc of Frozen on my PS3. No idea why that happens.

The OP probably is probably talking about the discs where you pause and it flattens the 3D image and extends a pause menu or progress bar. Like Disney one's do.

Warner Bros are always reliable for clean pause screens.

Paused 3D Blu Ray Tip:
Many times, when you press pause, the 3D changes to 2D, so when that happens on pause, press DOWN on your controller pad and see if it converts back to a 3D still image while still in pause mode. This often works from what I've seen in 3D blu rays, eliminating the menu bar. Not all are given this option sadly.

A paused 3D image in strong 3D really allows us to appreciate the 3D layering and pop out.

Yes its when the pause menu is in 3D. I forget which titles do this. Other discs are in 3D when you pause.

Disney and Paramount are especially bad for this. I don't think you can use Zivouhr's above trick on these blu's either? definitely not Paramount one's at least. His trick does work on a lot of pause screens though.

Let's start a list. I understand some players may have solutions so this list is regardless of with or without solutions
