I won't be seeing this movie and I hope others don't either. If his lame ass movies stop making money he won't be able to do them anymore. Like I said, he just isn't funny.
In.

Your.

Opinion.

Listen pal, there are a ton of people who think that he IS funny and just because you don't think he's funny doesn't mean that the rest of the world shares your opinions.

Those 'in the know in Hollywood' are trying to get people like Jessica Alba in their movies due to the fact that she's a huge draw right now, I can guarantee you that this movie will make money {and possibly spawn a sequel} and those 'in the know in Hollywood' will only be laughing at the sheer volume of money that they brought in by keeping Myers on the payroll.

Get over yourself.

this movie is bad and stupid becuz Mike Myers cannot get out of his old charactors, watch the trailer again, carefully, the Guru is a mix of Austin power and Dr. Evil.

I can't foresee if the film is going to be successful or not. But to the haters of the film or Mike Myers out there, all I can say is, "Thank you for your input. Mariska Hargitay!"

Two things: 1) Why did you bring it to a personal level? Remember the forum rules.

2) "Know" is a present state of having knowledge. You either know or you don't. "Foresee" is a present act of prediction without knowledge. You either have a sense that something will work or not. There is a clear distinction.

To communicate better, you have to convey what you mean clearly. That's why I chose "foresee" instead of "know".

wow, some bizarro mike myers hatred in this thread.

i for one am looking forward to this movie.

is it going to be goofy as hell? hell yes... but then again, so was/is austin powers, and i loved movies 1 and 3.

he's got a pretty good track record on non-sequels. axe murderer, wayne's world, austin powers, shrek... all funny. the sequels started becoming derivative awfully fast, but most of them were still funny (the exceptions being austin 2 and shrek 3).

I do not concur that my last post was "the same" as my first post. The two are completely different in intent and content.

of anyone on this forum you definately should not have a log-in name "writesimply."
Again, you brought this down to the personal level.

what you just said was, to me, a whole lot of nothing. but anyway, thanks for explaining.
Let's break down the sentence in question: "I can't foresee if the film is going to be successful or not."

Broken down:
"I can't foresee if this film is going to be successful."
"I can't foresee if this film is going to be unsuccessful."
This is due to the "or not".

The original sentence has a different meaning if you replace "can't foresee" with "don't know".

"I don't know if this film is going to be successful."
"I don't know if this film is going to be unsuccessful."

Stretching it further by changing the sentences to affirmatives, instead of -

"I can foresee this film is going to be successful." It becomes this -
"I do know this film is going to be successful." Or its opposite:

"I can foresee this film is going to be unsuccessful." To this -
"I do know this film is going to be unsuccessful."

I was conveying what I meant clearly. I was "foreseeing" instead of "knowing" because I have no knowledge to know for sure.

that has what exactly to do with the success of shrek? or are you claiming that shrek would have been even more of a success with farley, which is totally irrelevant to this discussion anyway?

this is like saying hey, by the way, john belushi was supposed to be chevy chase's character in spies like us, but he died. so chevy kind of lucked into that one.

who cares if it is offensive, No matter how you look at it, every movie has something that someone considers offensive in it. I really am tired of everyone always being SO afraid to put things in movies for fear that they will "offend someone" It is just a frickin movie.

Well thats is my 2 cents worth.

I agree, it is ridiculous how "Politically Correct" this world has become...

The answer is simple...if it offends you, just don't watch it, turn it off, leave, ignore it, or do whatever you have to do based on the situation that you are in that offends you.

What I am about to say is totally off subject but america is so politically correct its not funny. The creators of RE5 (or resident evil 5) got sued because there is a white guy killing colored people. But yet in GTA SA there is a black guy killing white people and yet thats fine? WTH am I missing?

Now on subject - I liked the austin powers movies and I liked the first shrek. The thing is that to me mike meyers is not funny anymore. I like watching his old films. Other people like his sequels or new movies and thats up to them.

Isn't it weird that Austin Powers is playing a Love Guru? I thought he lost his mojo?

I don't know, I would rather see Meyers' portrayal of Keith Moon whenever that comes out.

This movie doesn't look funny at all from the previews. It seems Meyers is just rehashing the same character. I guess this guy has nothing new to offer

Nice retort.

I guess you've got nothing new either after Writesimply dressed you down a little.
