Criterion announcements come on the 15th of each month, or the first business day after the 15th if the 15th falls on a weekend or a holiday.

Since tomorrow isn't the 15th, there's little chance -- barring a random Divine Intervention -- of Criterion announcing tomorrow.

Pickpocket was my most longed-for upgrade, so with that in mind the next on my wish list for the HD treatment is Jeanne Dielman. With the recent Artificial Eye announcement that the complete Antoine Doinel cycle is coming to disc in the UK I can't help but keep a candle burning for the idea of Criterion doing the same too (I'm especially keen for Stolen Kisses).

The Royal Tenenbaums- Spine #157 4/5
Wow. I went into this thinking I would either like it or hate it. I loved it. As of yesterday, it is my second favorite Anderson film, behind Life Aquatic.

Sid and Nancy- Spine #020- 2.5/5
I really thought I would love this one and... Gary Oldman was really good in it. Webb was so goddamn annoying in it that it often ruined my enjoyment of the film though. The first act was fantastic. That was it. That said, Cox's direction was beautiful

Cronos- Spine #551- 5/5
This was my second del Toro film (after Pacific Rim), and my first full-length foreign language film (yeah, yeah two characters occasionally speak English, as does the narrator), and it tells me I need to watch more of both. This was such a great character piece; I loved the character of Jesús and the story of his downfall. I did not plan on watching The Devil's Backbone as part of Criterion Month, but it is now on the list. Also on my list is We Are What We Are because of the reoccurrence of the Tito character.

The Brood- Spine #TBA- 3.5/5
This was a really good Cronenberg film. Not his best (for me, either The Fly or Videodrome), but damn good. It has a genuinely creepy atmosphere and I dug the uneasiness of the thing. I patiently await its impending Criterion release; I may not buy it for a while, but I will get it eventually.

Blow Out- Spine #562- 4/5
Not too bad. I saw half of this before and didn't entirely care for it. I decided to give it another go, and I really liked it. Definitely not my favorite De Palma (that is Phantom of the Paradise), nor my favorite Travolta, but it was really cool.

Naked Lunch- Spine #220- 4/5
This was really something. It's one of those "Stuff happens for no particular reason in no particular context for two hours" movies, which I can either love or hate. I dug it; probably because I really like Cronenberg as a director and Weller as an actor. Going on my Amazon Wishlist immediately.
Gray's Anatomy- Spine #618- 4/5
What can I even say aside from: Spalding Gray was a great storyteller.

Rushmore- Spine #065- 4.5/5
Now my second favorite (sorry Royals) Anderson film. Well acted and written all around. Well played, Owen Wilson.

Recently watched Robert Altman's film Images. Would love to see this one make it on Criterion. Any thoughts on the film?

I looked that up and it sounds like a XXX telenovela, which sounds awesome. I'd check it out when Criterion releases it.

If you are familiar with and are a fan of Pedro Almodovar you will love the film.

Dare I say it, IMAGES is my favorite Altman film, which is saying a lot! Yep, I like it even moreso than 3 WOMEN, which I find to be in the same vein. There's some great moments of real creepiness in IMAGES, and York is incredible, of course, and she won Best Actress at Cannes for the film. IMAGES is vastly underrated.

I believe the consensus was Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! on this one. It is difficult to dispute.

I agree with everything you just said. York full heartily deserved that award. I feel that it's Robert Altman's most overlooked films. Wasn't expecting much from it when I started it, but now it's in my top three of his films! This would make a great release for Criterions October releases. Wishful thinking

Oh, no, I'm sure the TIE he's wearing is the same pattern as one worn by one of the Life Aquatic characters...

So I'm pathetically bad at these things. I see the Tati box set, Picnic at Hanging Rock and Scanners. What others have already been released? Which ones are we waiting for?

Angel with the bell is Breaking the Waves, the red streaks in the river is Red River, the right hand bottom corner is the Demy box, and the prisoner with number 11 on his back is Riot in Cell Block 11. The exploding head is likely the clue for Scanners, but I thought they also hinted at that last year and I'm uncertain whether they would repeat it.

I believe the beetles on the cliff might be The Beatles, as well...indicating A Hard Day's Night, coming in June.
