Have you always used an amp with the x4000?

To answer your question i haven't had an issue with the overall volume. I usually have it set to around -25 to -20.

Yes, I've had the Emotiva hooked up ever since I've owned it. Bought the Denon in December. Did you use a SPL after room calibration? I still seem to have to listen at much louder volume levels, but I haven't used a SPL meter yet.

I never checked with a meter, but I should/will. I removed all cables except 1 and removed the banana plugs as well so it was just 3 feet of wire plugged in and still heard the static pop. Probably time to take it in to be serviced while it's under warranty.

I did have an issue with popping on another setup once. Turned out that the RCA plug had split off on my sub cable. A new cable solved it, obviously. Yours is coming out of all channels though, right? If that's the case, I'd send it in too. Good luck!

Hi all Denon owners I join you soon, just picked up a refurb X-4000 for 929 today from Newegg. Any tips or suggestions for setup on this baby!

Just follow the instructions in your owners manual, and you should be fine.

Reading the owners manual thoroughly, is the best way to learn how to setup, operate and fully utilize any new A/V equipment. That's why the manufacturers include the manual, along with the product, for the users benefit. Nobody else can be more informative, and descriptive than the owners manual itself.

My statement was a joke lol perhaps it did not come off as intended.

I got my Denon AVR-X4000 yesterday and have to say im loving this receiver so far. The only problem I noticed is that it does not seem to like my IR blaster so as of now I have to walk into the other room and manually change things in my closet, does anyone know a good IR blaster that works with AT&T Uverse as well as the AVR-X4000?

The X4000 is on my short list. I've heard so many good things about this unit. I think for the price, it's hard to beat.

Ugh why hook a cheap Emotiva up to the Denon. That's akin to pumping 86 octane into a Porshe. Doesn't make sense since the X4000 is capable. What did your ears tell you? If you truly needed more muscle get a real amplifier.

EDIT: Ok "Porsche" is a bit much but you get the idea. The Emotiva is a dog.

Sent my 3311 back to Denon, again today. Got them to pay the FedEx, but lost 2 Days, waiting.

No HDMI Video output.

The 3312 needs to go back, again, too.

Center & Surround channels got out: Intermittent, but I have another year plus of Warranty.

Overall, I still like them; but, both have to go back X 2.

Pita

I went from a pioneer elite sc-05 to a denon 4311ci, & noticed the exact same thing. I figured the pioneers ice amps were just putting out way more juice.

Not sure I've heard anyone put down an Emotiva amp. In my experience, I'd hook an Emotiva up to much higher quality equipment than this mid level Denon. The Emotiva easily impacted my system more than anything else I've purchased.

I wondered that as well. I just thought the "Porsche" would've kept up a bit better, lol.

Having an opinion doesn't make you a troll, making inflammatory posts again & again attacking emotiva whenever you randomly see someone who owns one of their products is what made you qualify. Wasting three seconds to glance at your post history shows you randomly insulting the company every 5 or 6 posts. "Hobo amps, pig in a party dress, cheap" ect, ect. Nothing personal, im sure you have other redeming qualities, just had to laugh.
