but someone wake me up, when studios go with high rez 96 / 192 kHz audio. 48kHz is so antiquated.

Yet pretty much beyond the range of human hearing (22kHz).


One of the reasons they don't upgrade is also the entire chain, from recording to final output has to support it. Most studio infrastructure isn't new.

The linked article says I, Robot was mastered in 2K, from a 4K film scan. Not sure that counts?

it's my understanding that DCI compliant cinema processors can decode 96kHz
