So not the news that I wanted to hear, but here is the reply from Music Direct about the Diamond 100 series:

Thanks for the email. It does not seem as if these speakers will become available in the USA. Music Direct has no plans off picking up this line.

Now trying to decide if I go with the Diamond 10s or figure something else out.
In the meantime, I emailed Wharfedale directly to see if they could provide any info. Hopefully it is just something that is delayed here rather than never being available. Not sure why the Diamond 10 line would be the end here.....

Just got off the phone with Wharfedale USA. The Diamond 100 series is not coming to the US. Apparently they were made for only a few markets. They are not replacements for the Diamond 10 line. So it looks like I will be staying with the Diamond 10s - now to decide between the 10.1s or the 10.2s for the fronts. Leaning toward the 10.2s.....

On a side note, it was really nice of the folks at Wharfedale USA to call me and talk over things - awesome customer service.

Id suggest the 10.2s, that will give you a little bit better bass, output and play a little louder too should you need all of that. But its better to have it and not need it, then not have it and need it. Also, if you can get the 10CM center over the others, but if not due to $$ or size, go with the CS.

Sounds like they are bridging the gap between the Diamond 10 and the Jade lines. Thats good cause there is a major price jump to move up.

Good to hear they offer some good customer service. Some companies get it, and others dont.

This is smart I think. That Diamond line is great, based on what I heard. The Jade series sounds pretty good too. When you upgrade you are getting a big cabinet difference between the two. I listened to the Jade 3's and they sounded great but you really notice that the cabinet is pretty large for a standmount. Also very pretty. I feel like the Jade is a good value for what you get but I could be happy with the Diamond series speakers too. The Diamond cabinet is a great value as well but if you have them side by side no comparison. Which makes sense since you are paying a lot more.

Wharfedale Opus Tri surrounds - if I could find two pairs in gloss black - would be my next upgrade.

I'm looking at the 10.2s (assuming that I have the space for them - 10.1s if not), most likely the 10 CS center as I don't have the room for the CM.

Definitely in for the three right now, but also thinking about full surround with the 10.0s.

I'm coming from a set in a box (Harman Kardon HKTS 18) so wondering what kind of improvement I'll see with things. Again, pretty new to all this. I believe the HK sub is 10" 200 watt - not sure about frequency response - so if I do 2 10.SX subs or a single 10.MX sub would I notice an improvement? If not, that is fine, as long as I don't loose anything I guess...if that makes sense.

Thanks!

That is a great idea if it's not in the budget to do a full 5.1 system at the moment, the surrounds can wait yeah?

As far as the sub, are you stuck on a Wharfedale sub?

And yeah, most definately going to notice an improvement, guaranteed.

Yeah, the surrounds could wait, might be hard to leave my 5.1 setup right now though haha

Not really stuck on a Wharfedale sub - like the idea of a completely matched set, but I could really go with anything - just not sure what. Would a front firing sub need a specific place in a room to sound good? I've only had down firing ones. Also, if I went two subs, I'd like them to be relatively small since I don't have a lot of room and they may go under a table or something. Can they go anywhere in a room, or should they go up front? Or does it depend on what type of sub it is?

Cool - really looking forward to it!

I'd say go go with a sub that has the best bang for the buck.

When it comes to having a complete matching set, as long as the front stage matches, you're golden. Of coarse if you able to incorporate a matching set from the same series of surrounds, then spot on. But subs are in a league of their own IMO.

Every subwoofer is different. You can take two downfiring subs, from different companies, in different sizes and power, and they can sound completely different in the same spot, their is no said positioning for a subwoofer, besides where it sounds best I think if space is a concern for you, even if not , I'd go with two subs over one if your budget allows. Even if that means smaller due to room size restraints.
Two are going to give you fuller in room bass response, less dead areas, whereas with one, its harder to find the sweet spot, if you know what I mean.
Of coarse every room layout is different, but from my experience. ....

Looking at Wharfedale Diamond 10.7. They seem to scream value.

What are they comparable to?

How would you guys compare the to the old B&W 683s?

I cannot justify spending $3K on Dynaudio Excites, Sonus Faber Veneres, or B&W CMs...no matter how much I want them, I cannot. Was time for a reality check.

Hoping the detail in these Wharfedales aren't just a sideways move. I enjoy my current bookshelves. These baby B&Ws sound great with classical and jazz. Want more detail and clearer dialogue. Looking at Wharfedale Diamond 10.CM. Sure this will be a nice step up from current center.

Travis, the 10.7's are an upgrade to your current B&W's. The will sound very good with jazz music. If you wanted to stay with bookshelves - you may want to investigate the Jade Series from Wharfedale.

Thanks.

Contemplating bookshelves, but kinda want to play some music without a sub. Jade 1 and C1 would work, though. Off to Taipei next weekend and already got the address of an authorized dealer.

I'm pretty stoked because the Diamonds are only a couple bucks more here than in the US. B&W is more than twice as much.
