I've been waiting for The Flintstones Movie to come to Blu-Ray for awhile now. Hopefully Universal has put alot of effort into remastering this one.

I currently own the 5.1 DTS Edition of The Flintstones on DVD. It is one of those early DTS DVDs that had the audio compressed at the Full Bitrate/1536 KBPS and I gotta say the Sound Quality is terrific for an old DVD but the Picture Quality is very average. I guess it has to do with the fact that Universal chose to use Single Layer/4.7 GB DVD Discs for that specific release.

I'll loved watching this movie as a kid.

I'll definitely pick this up.

There's so many good actors in this movie.

Except Universal didn't stay 100% true to the show. Barney Rubble didn't marry a fat man, he married a petite beautiful woman.

How wonderfully homophobic and misogynistic of you. Kudos.

Looks like most of the extras from the DVD will be ported over. I think the only thing missing are the Cast bios pages, and production notes pages.
  • Feature Commentary with Director Brian Levant
  • Discovering Bedrock Documentary (41:26)
  • MCA Soundtrack Presentation
  • Art Department Concept Sketches (36 images)
  • Opening Sequence Comparisons (0:58)
  • Production Photographs (162 images)
  • Teaser Trailer (0:58)
  • Theatrical Trailer (1:44)

Glad this is finally coming out. I watched this movie all the time as a kid. I don't get all the hate some people have for it, though. I thought the actors were all good as well as the story.

No offense to the fans of the show... I never really saw the appeal. But yeah it has always been hard for me to call the film terrible considering they were adapting from material where a good chunk of the humor revolved around rock puns and humor. Not sure what people expected to get with a film version. Same sort of thing with Super Mario Brothers which was another terrible film but seriously what do people expect to see with a live action adaptation?

Then why bother to comment?

It's funny that people act like they don't care about certain things but obviously care enough to at least comment.

Which could mean their aloofness is fake.

If you don't care, don't comment.

However, at least with The Flintstones, the studio followed the source material for the most part. With Super Mario Bros. there were a lot of inconsistencies worthy of a terrible adaptation.

Oh get off your high horse, Rosie O' Donnell was horribly mis-casted as Betty, what the hell where they thinking? Betty was arguably supposed to be even hotter than Wilma and we got an unfunny fat dump of a woman. And I say this as a big fan of the Flintstones cartoon.

Well my main point wasn't necessarily about faithfulness but about how some things just are never going to adapt well to live action. I believe those two fit into that category.

Take my money. I saw this in the theater thrice in the early nineties.

And throw in the really bad prequel as a bonus Digital Copy feature.
