Chopper (2000) Eric Bana - No Blu-ray release, anywhere?!

It gets a reasonable IMDb score, is only 14 years old, and I thought it was a pretty decent movie... so why no blu-ray releases anywhere?

Any ideas? News?

Would love to see this film on blu-ray. I am a very very big Dominik fan with Jesse James and Killing Them Softly being two of my most rewatched blu-rays (though a little frustrating the special features on the Jesse James disc are apparently non-existant). I would DEFINITELY get a blu-ray of this if there was ever one released. Perhaps nearer the release of his next film, Blonde?

I'd love to see this released also. In fact, there are many Australian 'gangster' films I'd love to see get the Blu treatment!

I recommend the books btw. Very good reads for the most part.

Nice to see some demand for it. I saw it on TV a few months back and instantly thought "Hey, great film, must check out the blu-ray"... Went searching and nada, not a single release worldwide!

Think it's one of those films that slips through the net distributor-wise. Didn't really make any money and the cult appeal has been gradual. It'll be due an upgrade when either Andrew Dominik gets more notoriety, or less likely but if Eric Bana perhaps has some kind of hit with a similar performance? If neither of those things happen it's likely to be blind luck - whether a distributor has faith in releasing it on the format.

Hmm... Lucky I've just picked up the DVD for a couple of quid on eBay, but I'd still much prefer a blu-ray. Surprised it didn't even pick up an Australian blu-ray release, would've happily imported it if there was no other option...

I was told by both Madman entertainment and Palace Films, in the second half of last year, that there is not an HD transfer for it yet. Whether this is true or not, who knows.

This is such a great film! I'm glad I own the Oz DVD with tons of bonus material, so I won't sell that until I hold a Blu-ray in my hands. Let's hope!

Perhaps when Andrew Dominik's next film, Blonde (Marilyn Monroe biopic starring Jessica Chastain) comes out it's more likely someone will pick this up for release...assuming the film's a success! Such a shame his last two films have been largely shrugged off by the filmgoing public - they're both two of my favourite films of the last decade.
