I have watched this blu ray on Tuesday. Although the picture quality was OK to good, I was satisfied by the picture and audio. I did not see any excessive DNR. I have not seen any of the special features. I will definitely revisit this film again next week.

I wonder how the PQ stands up against the German and Russian editions.

Hi GoldMotel, I do not have the previous German or Russian editions. I believe the Russian edition is the cut version with 4 to 5 mins shorter than the uncut (this is an assumption, not a fact). The German edition is listed as not containing the English subtitles (I was going to pick up this edition, but my French is not up to par as in the past).

I used the site below to make my decision, they listed the bit rate and some blu ray stats.

I hope this helps. I love this movie, not only because I am a big film buff, but also Bertolucci is top-notch directing this film. In my opinion, Eva Green's best movie.

I totally agree, cover art (inside and outside) and coverslip look great showing off some of the most memorable scenes.

I do not know what to do with the postcards, I just keep them inside the case.

How does the order process work with KimchiDVD? I'm assuming that's the best place to order this from. Do they accept paypal? And how much should I list as the value as far as customs go. Any tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

they accept paypal and will allow you to make a fake invoice if you want to. but that doesnt always help with customs^^

I haven't seen them in person with my own eyes but the contrast looks far more natural on the German transfer. Detail is virtually identical on both transfers. The Korean edition looks a tad bright when examined closely.

I only have the US DVD and the KR BD (non-limited). The BD does seem a bit bright, but it's still a big improvement over the DVD.

One minor disappointment though: the English subs on the BD are all-or-nothing, i.e., choose either no Eng subs at all, or Eng subs for all the dialog, French AND English. Of course, according to this site the DE BD doesn't have any English subs at all, so...

I finally watched my copy of this last night. The picture quality is definitely an upgrade over the DVD, and the movie is uncut and uncensored. The English subtitles are all or nothing -- either all dialogue (English and French) is subtitled, or there are no subtitles at all. (Kind of like the Japanese DVD release of Kill Bill.) I noticed a few typos in the English subs, but nothing too egregious.
