I loved it but I didn't particularly think the ending was as strong as it should have been, it's like
[Show spoiler]Tom saves the day, there was a mysterious explosion in France and the mimics are gone. Why are they preparing to storm the beach again?

I dont understand why people are having such a big problem with that.
[Show spoiler] There was an explosion in France, and it seems Mimics have fallen, but they don't know for sure that whatever it is has affected all of them. Plus, they don't know if it's just a temporary occurrence, so they would want to attack while the enemy is seemingly weakened.

If youre in a battle, and the guys in the enemy's front line suddenly die, do you just say that's it and walk away? No, you would charge forward.

Unless an actor pulls an OJ Simpson or something like that, I don't see how what they do in their real life should affect the viewing experience. Being unable to separate actor from role would seem to be a problem with said viewer, not the actor. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Keanu Reeves aren't exactly great actors, but for the two hours in question I accept them in their roles because it's called ACTING.

I'm struggling to think of a Tom Cruise movie I have enjoyed.

e: Okay, maybe Eyes Wide Shut, but that's because it's Kubrick.

I could care less about his personal life. Say whatever you want about Cruise as a person, but he is one of the most consistently entertaining actors of... well all time, actually. He continues to put out great entertaining movies, working with the best directors from legends to first-time directors

When it comes to actors I consider their personal life and politics to be none of my business really as long as they keep churning out quality flicks I'll continue to see them. I haven't seen a Cruise film that I have hated.

Very well said.

Time and again turning out some of the best movies of their respective years as well. He's the last great Megastar. His personal life holds no bearing on how much I enjoy his films, but even if these people think he's a loon, Cruise has done a lot of good, and is actually known for being one of the nicest and most likable guys in Hollywood. As long as he keeps making great movies, I'll be there to watch them. He's very rarely let me down.

OK TO CLICK ON SPOILER TAG: Nothing really worth worrying about, aside from the fact that I may have just set the record for Most Multi-Post replies in a single thread...

So why even post here? I mean, to each their own, but you came into this thread just to say how much you dislike/hate him

Same here, & the ONLY real "bomb" I can think of that was barely enjoyable/pretty cheesy, was "Cocktail", & his role in it. Plus, it brought us that Beyond Lame song, "Kokomo" (sp?) by The Beach Boys (& I'm a Fan of them/their history, contribution to music).

Lol - I Agree, sort of. Interesting that you mentioned Those 2 "actors" in the same sentence as "ACTING"

To Me, I could care less about an Actor's personal life, beliefs, whatever, as long as it's not affecting me, or the actor/actress is SUCH a complete Jackass OFF-SCREEN, that I couldn't watch a movie with them without thinking of those issues. My long-time friend is very political & because of Sean Penn's politics, he can't Stand the guy, plus not even PONDER the thought of seeing him in a movie. Same thing with Robin Williams (for my buddy). Since (for the Most part), Robin always seems to be "ON", (as in, NEVER acting Normal on a talk show, appearance, etc.), he can't stand him as well. --- I don't get it, but But, to each their own I guess

Pretty good, nothing great really. Obviously used to add Box Office, which not ALL movies do (some/many, sure - but there ARE ones that do it & it comes out Fantastic/adds to many aspects of said film). Just my $.02

I suspect many will have reservations about the ending but I think it was earned and deserved and that final shot is perfect.

The advertising for this film would have led you to suspect it would be a soulless sci-fi explosion fest but it's very much the antithesis. The action is there and it delivers but it's also purposeful and full of exposition. This film is full of soul, levity and character moments in nearly every situation. Christopher McQuarrie is on quite a screenwriting hot streak.

Groundhog Day meets Aliens is simplistic but apt although I think this film more than stands on it's own two legs.

Loved it and I'll be seeing it again very soon. (*bang*)
Yea, I'd agree with this & while I'm not sure what to vote above, I'm leaning towards a very Solid 4/5. I really enjoyed OBLIVION with him, while this one is Nothing like that (aside from the Sci-Fi theme), they used way too much Shaky-Cam & whip-pans in a lot of the action stuff that made it hard to follow at times.

Lol - that'd have been great. I wonder how many times he Could have said that in movies/tv shows since ALIENS. He Was Fantastic in this though. Best role for Bill Paxton in a while really. Cruise & Blunt were Great on-screen, excellent chemistry between them. Also, I LOVED the Alien design(s) here. Tremendous CGI there.

Yea, I'd have recognized him Instantly IF he was in the movie. Not sure Where they could have put him anyway (?)

I honestly have no idea.

I can't even figure out where he'd fit in the film...
Yea, the ending was "ok" to me, not bad, not great, just Ok --- other than that (& the things mentioned above), it was a pretty enjoyable fun movie.
