The new adaption of Flowers was more faithful to the book, but I thought the original had FAR more Gothic atmosphere and style (and a great score by Christopher Young.) And while the great Ellen Burstyn did an admirable job as The Grandmother, Louise Fletcher owned the role with a stern malice that only she could exude. I so regret we didn't get to see Wes Craven's version (Which the original started out as, and kept some of his script ideas, such as the ending.)
Day One for me. |
