The single disc copy. Bad link??? Checked it several times . After much
Time on the phone w the amazon guy got the right one ordered but at 24.99 as the 2 hour window on the 13.99 price (price history) had closed. But then the next day , the nice amazon folks after hearing my plight gave me the 13.99 price which according to their price history never existed. Who knows?
Buy linkers beware
They are still $13.99 and $24.99 on Amazon. Not sure why you didn't just cancel one and re-order the other?

Of course studios cash grab. They are in business for one reason: to make money. Why wouldn't they? And just because studios like WB repackage existing discs to re-release them, it doesn't mean you have to buy every iteration of a movie. If it's a substantial upgrade, then sure. It's easy for them to keep new discs coming out while working on restorations by re-releasing existing titles they already have ready to go.

I'll be getting the Digibook if the transfer is better than the poorly received Italian disc.

This will be region locked I presume.

Here's to hoping this release will be split over two BD50's instead of being crammed onto one disc. I've never watched this in any version and am willing to see it.

4+ hours of content on one BD-50 certainly makes me nervous, but I suppose with really, really smart compression it could work.

In for the set with both cuts. The shorter one is the one I'm familiar with, watched twice on DVD, so I suppose there's the chance the newer extended cut could feel a bit too long for repeat viewings.

Though I doubt that. More Leone is always a good thing. Still nice to have both cuts.

I love this movie, but I can't imagine it being any longer. :P

I'll get it if it's a noticeable PQ upgrade...

@cobraverde ..... When they were first listed both were 13.99, check your price history- 2hour window their, however the collectors link would take you to the single disc on your amazon cart..... Probably still does.... I did get the 13.99 price for the collectors edition... After some customer service love...Just warning others the link is bad.... U know , being helpful

I don't believe the 1984 2 hour chronological was ever released on DVD

So, it is still NOT the Complete Version, then?
I'll wait a little longer... if at all...

It's possible that the remaining footage doesn't even exist any more, assuming the discussed run times are even correct. This is likely the final and longest version that they can make.

I read that it is a rights issue. The footage does exist.

The press sheet says 251 minutes. It also says 22 extra minutes, which adds up perfectly with the existing 229 min release.

I think the sepia color looks more film-like, but I have no idea which is more true to the intent. The U.S. version looks too over-colorful in that one shot.

No, it's horrible, and I hope that the forthcoming release doesn't replicate this, although with the latest 4K Leone remasters, I don't have my hopes up. I've already bought and sold the Italian extended release...

I'm 99.99% sure that it won't be changed for the US release.

That's what I'm thinking, and because I love this film, I'll bite the bullet and keep my pre-order for the collectors edition.
