I find humor in the fact that some of you are saying War of the Worlds is crap but yet you are praising a film that got mediocre reviews and is tanking at the box office big time. Both not good for a summer blockbuster...

90% is hardly mediocre. I personally think it's too high, but I'm glad it's positive.

This. The box office has absolutely no relevancy to whether a film is good or not.

Really? I was not aware of that. So please elaborate on why this film is better than War of the Worlds. Anyone?

Dude, why are you so defensive? Who cares? Some people prefer Edge of Tomorrow, some prefer War of the Worlds. Both are acceptable opinions. I'm honestly not sure which one I'd go with. Probably Edge of Tomorrow, but it's really not a big deal. They're both pretty decent, if unexceptional, flicks.

Best movie of the year (so far)! The Booth Bijou gives it 6 out of 5 stars!

When was the last time a movie held a 90% critic score and 92% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes after 5 days of release? Movies this good are few and far between!

Day one for me! I'll pay whatever they are asking.

Mark

Not.

Quite.

Opened a week early internationally to ~$20 million, then had a $28 million domestic opening plus $82 million international openings and second weeks.

yeah, if you can stand Dakota Fanning's annoying overacting - god I wanted to slap her.

Edge's 3D conversion was just excellent, not to mention the fantastic 7.1 (Atmos) mix - day one purchase for sure.

No Justin Chatwin I liked both movies but enjoyed Edge a whole lot more than WOTW.

Yeah, she played a part in why I didn't care too much for the movie. It was 'ok'. Nothing I would watch again. I wouldn't wanna listen to anymore screaming.

As for Edge of Tomorrow, I'm gonna try and see it later today (Wed).

I'd probably give the edge to Edge of Tomorrow but who cares. I like both very much. How come everyone always talks about the negatives with these things and never the positives. Was no one impressed with the sequences with the tripods attacking and vaporizing people? The first one was tense and the one on the boat as well. I would be scared as shit in real life and I feel that came across in those scenes. Spielberg handled those parts incredibly. Is it perfect? Of course not, but as far as alien invasion movies go, I personally view it as one of the better ones.
