Default Ultraviolet code territories

I recently received a code from someone and I'd like to redeem it but when I type it into Flixster it says that this code is for a different territory. I asked the guy who gave it to me if he knew which territory it was for and he didn't (he got it from someone else). Is there a way to find out which territory a digital code belongs to, so that I can change my proxy to that territory and redeem it?

And by the way, Vudu says the code is invalid. Is that common?.....for Flixster to tell me the code is for a different territory and Vudu to tell me it's invalid?

From my experience, most times it turns out that the code has expired.

The two common ones are UK and Canada. So you just try those two with Flixster and see if that works for you.

Yes. That's common. Vudu is U.S. only, so if it's an international code, Vudu usually won't recognize it if you try to redeem it there. It will have to be redeemed through Flixster, and you'll most likely have to use a proxy to make Flixster think you're in the country (or region) of origin.

If it's a UK code, try the instructions laid out in this thread: Instructions on how to redeem UK UV codes in the USA

And if you're a Vudu user, know that some of those codes won't transfer over to Vudu. This thread will give you an idea of what movies will and what movies won't: List of UK/Ireland UV's which transfer to VUDU

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Yeah, I tried doing the proxy thing for both UK and Canada, but neither worked. I was just wondering if there was a way (short of trying every country on the planet) to tell which country the code belonged to. Looks like I might be out of luck.

By the way, the code is for The Dark Knight. I really want to redeem it obviously, I just don't know which country to set it to. The instructions told me to go to wbdigitalcopy.com/thedarkknight and to follow the instructions, but when I follow the steps, it installs some digital code manager and then tells me my operating system is out of date, and that I need to have Windows XP or later, even though I'm using Windows 8. It's all really bizarre.

I believe Dark Knight is a digital copy only code, not UV.

They re-issued it 3-4 times with a UV code.

While that's true, the instructions Reeder gave sound like it was the older release that wasn't UV.

You were most likely given an iTunes code of The Dark Knight. I have noticed when someone inputs the old WB codes such as The Dark Knight, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Inception, etc before UV or HD iTunes copies became available, when someone enters the code into flixster it gives the not valid in your country message. If you know the iTunes trick to check the validity without redeeming the code in iTunes, then I would enter the code in iTunes and see if it asks you if you want to download now/later, already redeemed or invalid.

If it happens to be an iTunes code and it hasn't been redeemed, you might be able to get WB to give you a UV copy of The Dark Knight if you message them about not wanting it for iTunes.

It says invalid code in iTunes.

If I remember correctly, the original iTunes digital copy for The Dark Knight required a disc. You won't be able to redeem the code by itself.

Based upon the directions you posted above, it certainly sounds like you have an iTunes code from one of the original releases of the film.

Dude. Just buy another UV code on the trade thread and get done with it. Don't you think your time is more valuable than spending hours on a stupid code?

Yeah, if you are patient you can get the whole trilogy for $5-$8.

So, just an update for future reference. I contacted wbdigitalcopy support and told them the situation. They sent me a new code for the Dark Knight within an hour and it works fine.

If it was an iTunes code, it would have said please insert disc to redeem and not invalid.

TS, just change to UK in your proxy and try on flixster.

The new code didn't work in iTunes did it? Probably a long shot that it would but I figured I'd ask to be sure.
