That's interesting! I thought all of the new box sets were uncut but the previous single seasons were cut

I don't know, that may very well be the case, you'd have to ask somebody that has it...

Sorry to ask again, but since it was brought up later, does the uncut status include the F-word?

Oui

Barrel set is the way to go. I would think the complete boxset would have the same discs as the barrel set but the individual seasons are the ones with minor cuts and missing content.

Not when I bought it

It does suck that Germany and USA had another batch produced but the UK didn't, I'm not sure what the print run was for the UK market but it clearly wasn't enough.

I know, I think that came across more arsey than it was intended...

The recently released US digipack seems to have all the bonus features of the barrel (it is also 16 discs and boasts a 2 hour documentary on the back), but some of the discs in their barrel set are apparently region A locked, so if the user is region free that's a cheaper option...

I was looking at the digipack, but it will require saving up and I'm not sure I can justify the expense on a series I haven't seen in full...

Well, I ordered it for 150 bucks, which is less than it first cost on Amazon UK (110 quid). I was close to buying it when it was twice that much, but held off, hoping there would be a sale. Can't wait to watch the show again from start to finish.

Am already on season five now, been watching half a season per day, such a great show! For those of you who have the barrel set, how do you display it? With or without the see-through plastic box it came in?

The plastic box went in the bin as soon as the set arrived.

Could someone tell me which 5 episodes of season 3 include commentary on the UK disc?
Also are there any other missing extras from season 3? Also, which episode is censored?

Mine is sat in the plastic at the moment, but when I move later this year and have more space I'll display it by itself and put the plastic in a storage space. I'm quite fussy about keeping packaging, so I'm keen to have it safe somewhere.

I keep my barrel set in the plastic cover too, its nice in or out of the cover but I like my set to be extra protected (Shame my Walking Dead limited editions don't have any protection - stupid AMC UK )

I sent a message to Sony UK about the differences in the UK standalone and UK complete set. Still waiting to hear back from them, but if anyone here has the standalone set and could list the contents, would gladly appreciate it.

So, I finally got a reply from Sony UK:

So, what to believe?

I watched the complete collection and confirm that every episode is uncut. Can't comment on the individual releases.

I thought Buzz was correct, and that was the concensus from when we debated this a year or so back when originally released.

The UK complete boxset and complete barrel gift set both have the fully uncut disks with all extras as per US release. Only difference is the barrel gift set has the final disk of extras (which mainly focus on the last half season), all the episode disks are identical.

What is unclear is if you buy the INDIVIDUAL season BDs in the UK whether these are still the old cut versions missing many extras on some seasons or if these have been replaced on later pressings by the disks from the complete boxsets.

It is confirmed that season 4 UK individual is missing all the commentary tracks that are available on the US individual set, and also on the US/UK complete series set.

Season 3 says it has only 5 commentaries according to the rear cover of the UK set, while the US individual and the US/UK complete series set has 9 commentaries.

So I asked Sony again, since they said the content is supposedly identical for season 3, yet the back covers say otherwise.

So, finally a word back from Sony UK and they said

Quote:
Hello again,

Sorry for the delay in answering, our team had to check our products database.

We’re happy to confirm that the discs in the individual S3 Blu-ray and the discs in the Complete Series box set (in the UK) are the exact same ones, with the same content.

They include the 13 uncut episodes as well as commentaries for nine episodes.

The available audio and subtitles are the following:
• Audio = English, French, German
• Subtitles = English, Arabic, French, German, Turkish
So it seems the back cover of the UK season set (as well as the German and French) is wrong...
