I have both, and the song selection on RB isn't that great to me. I like GHIII, but I get very frustated at times.
For example, I'll play a long song, not miss a note, and get near the end, hit the note (the note sounds, the screen lights...I know I hit it, and I'll still get that little buzz sound...like when I missed one). ![]() THat is not to say I'm always perfect. I know when I miss notes, hit the wrong key..etc. It happens. But when I KNOW I didn't hit the wrong key...oh, it pisses me off to no end. That said, I didn't have that trouble on RB. So...is it the controller (wireless les paul) the software...what, on GHIII? Is that why you guys prefer RB, or is it song selection...or what? |

Why I hated GH3
1. Inflated difficulty on note charts. That's what you get for hiring people who made custom notecharts on Youtube. 2. Terrible wirless synchronization 3. Shameless product placement 4. Boss battles. 5. Detachable neck. ![]() |

Harmonix is run entirely by musicians and a major oversight philosophy They've got E street band members helping to choose the tracks, they really go above and beyond to make sure their product is MUSICAL, especially in regards to the note charts making sense
Neversoft got tossed the job work for hire to produce Simon set to rock music, and that's what they delievered. Difficulty over musicality jq is right that they hired people who made their own notecharts on pirated versions of the game to appeal to the speedmashing crowd. |

The last two posts pretty much sum it up for me. GH2 was incredibly well built and played very smoothly. While I can handle the insane note charts of GH3, I don't really care for them and the shit quality of the controllers kills accuracy, making it an incredibly disappointing experience.
On the other hand, I don't love RB either. The guitar play is overly simplified and too easy to keep my interest on Expert. The note chart display is more tedious and less accurate to follow than GH, so I find my % in RB is much poorer than GH, despite significantly easier note charts. So, I play RB for drums and drums only, however, even the drum kit fails to build an immersive experience, given zero elastic recoil on the drum "skins" and a layout that plays more like a xylophone than a drum kit. note charts in RB are more realistic on all instruments esp drums then GH...the DLC is 100 folds better, form a band, 4 player multiplayer, better song selection ( i love classic rock), Harmonix running the show and i know they wont drive it into the ground........

Rock Band's multiplayer is ten times more robust than GH3's. Plus I can't sing in GH3.

For one I hate the guitar for GH3. That SHOULD be easily fixed, but . . . yeah.
Plus, like Wicky said, the songs on Rock Band make sense. The buttons follow the music. GH3 has notes and rhythms in there (One for example has quite a few) that don't exist in the real song, so it makes it infinitely more difficult because you're trying to follow the song, yet you also have to follow something that's just thrown in willy nilly. I think the Rock Band guitar would help me with SOME of the difficulty issues in GH3 (some of the runs they have a ridiculous), due to the fret buttons not being unrealistically spaced. |

The notes system seems completely broken on Rock Band compared to GH3. GH3 is SOOOOOOO much better.
Rock Band sucks. I hate the drums, they suck worse than Kawasaki One-Man Jam. GH3 is great. I actually like it more than GH2. Not really looking forward to either of the upcoming GH games, though. |
