the Alpha was alright... this wasn't the game I was expecting based on that E3 trailer from 2013

I didn't realize it was going to be so futuristic/alieny/magic infused/wow like

I thought it'd be more like Battlefield mixed with a Grand Theft Auto sized world with missions/events taking place (no rpg elements or aliens or special abilities etc)

Has Activision or Bungie said anything about a collectors edition for Destiny? I don't normally get suckered into buying those but for this game I might make an exception.

I'm sure they will announce the real collector's edition closer to release. I expect they will have something crazy like a 12" statue included or something like that.

Although I'd be happy to get just a steelbook maybe an art book too, but to be honest I flick through them once and never touch them again :/

Maybe include the OST, and on a CD none of that DLC crap like Beyond: Two SOuls where you had to download a bloody App on the PS3 to listen to the 6 tracks

Bungie Outlines Findings From Destiny First Look Alpha, Over 6 Million Games Played

Destiny‘s First Look Alpha on the PlayStation 4 has come to a close, but that doesn’t mean your pre-launch adventure is over just yet.

Anxious fans look onward to Destiny’s official open beta, launching next month on July 17. In a recent update from developer Bungie, the studio outlined a few of the things the team learned throughout the course of the Alpha, and insisted that the fruits of our labor (and their findings) will materialize in the upcoming Beta.

For now, here are some interesting stats the studio has pulled out of the Alpha:

• 149,522,313 Primary Weapon Kills
• 21,782,610 Secondary Weapon Kills
• 4,002,737 Heavy Weapon Kills
• 21,687,298 Super Ability Kills
• 2,819,211 Orbs of Light Gathered
• 6,850,773 Control Points Captured in the Crucible
• 1,195 Deathless Medals awarded in the Crucible
• 4,356 Splatters with the Sparrow
• 667,966 Public Events Joined
• 60,491,944 Fallen Dregs Dispatched with Extreme Prejudice
• Too many to count: Guardians served in Dance Parties
• 6,461,871 Player Games Played!

The team wasn’t quite able to share specifics on what sort of differences and changes will be present in the Beta, but here’s what community manager David “DeeJ” Dague had to say in the latest update:

“We collected volumes of data behind the curtain. We’ll use that to finely tune the network that brings Guardians into our brave new world and the experiences they share while there. It will take time to fully realize the impact of those learnings. You’ll see them on display in Beta and in the final version of Destiny.

“In terms of the community overall, we learned that the best way to understand Destiny is to play it. If you played it, we think you’re learning that as well. If you shared your gameplay, it’s likely that you’ve grappled with questions from your audience. It was fun to learn a thing or two about how to tell this story from your own words.”

As for what sort of content the beta will offer, Dague says we’ll have to stay tuned for details.

Has anyone else not really felt like playing other games since the alpha? I have tried to play a few games and nothing seems to be keeping my interest. My wife actually asked me if I was not feeling well because I hadn't been playing anything.

How do I get in on the Beta? I have the game reserved at Target but I don't think that includes Beta access.

I did a preorder from Amazon and got a code emailed to me almost instantly.

Agreed. I have traded in all games except Battlefield in anticipation of not playing much other than Destiny.

Went to bed at 11:30 the other night instead of 12:30 or 1:00.
I'm playing BF Hardline beta and COD Ghosts.

I'm back to playing FF14, Destiny reminded me a lot of that game with it's MMO elements. I've got Watch_Dogs and Murdered to play through but get too addicted to FF14 to bother to play them, I feel the same thing will happen when Destiny comes out
