get a bug sprayer and wet the ceiling let sit 10 min then hit 1 more time and scrape. it comes off very easy, just messy. cover floor with plastic and ball up and through away.

yeah they even sell scrapers with a bag connected to them with little to no mess just mist wuth water and scrape did a whole 5000 square foot house last year with it in about a hour
