That is really cheap since the new movie is going for $21.24 or more just on its own & that is half the cost of the set.

I think it's a good price for 3 films in a set. I mean parts 3, 4, 5 and 6 were trash, so they ain't even charging us for those.

Hahaha.

I've never seen any of these films - only snippets, always intedned to pick up the pot of gore collection, but films with better reputations demanded my attention (although it's not like I never watch or own those types of films). So I will pick this up easy, and the new one actually looks pretty good to me.

I will be buying this and giving away the last disc. I have absolutely no interest in seeing origins.

Any idea how these will look since there are 2 movies on each disk (except for #7)

probably pretty decent. 84 minute movies don't really beg large BD-50's... they did the same with the Nightmare on Elm Street and some of the Friday the 13th discs, they look great

Exactly. And it's not like there is even a question of these being possibly worse or on-par with how the DVD's looked. I have a feeling, no doubt, that these transfers will all be total and definitive upgrades. Lionsgate doing this in the first place was probably a major stretch, so I think we can all safely say, this will be the final say on the "Leprechaun" series for the blu-ray format, unless for some reason they re-issue the discs individually for bargain-bin prices, which I really doubt that would even happen.

And, Lionsgate, when they have released catalog titles, have done well with them - the transfers look great!
Monster Squad, Cabin Fever, Near Dark, My Bloody Valentine, Cujo, Jacob's Ladder, House of 1000 Corpses, to name a few.

Granted, 2 of those are post-2000 movies and I don't know which transfers were done by them specifically - was my Bloody Valentine transfered by Paramount?
Either way those discs all looked good-awesome in my eyes.

Isn't Near Dark considered one of the worst Blu-rays ever in terms of PQ?

Well maybe it looked good (not great), but I didn't think it looked bad, but that was also the first time I had been exposed to that film. I said they looked good-awesome at the bottom of my post...but I did say "great" above didn't I?
Still, what's 1 movie out of the lot I listed? Their track record (from my experience) is mostly for the better - is my main point.

"Near Dark" doesn't exactly have a 5-star transfer, but it's good enough for me, especially considering we may never atleast for a long time get a re-issue with better A/V. Last time I checked too, "Near Dark" was going OOP. Amazon is listing a new copy of "Near Dark" for $33.95, so yes it appears to be OOP.

However, second-party sellers are selling "new" copies starting as low as $14.93 plus the $3.99 shipping.

My biggest fear is that my "Near Dark" disc dies on me. A lot of old Lionsgate discs I've had have succumbed to just not working anymore. I've had to re-buy "American Psycho" and "The Devil's Rejects" just because one day they no longer worked. I always ask people to check up on their Lionsgate discs periodically just to be safe, especially if they were purchased on the day they were released and it was rather some time ago.

Lots of discs have two films per disc... they are pretty good. Though, I won't comment on these since most of the disc they will already be putting trash on.

The first batch of Lions Gate disks from 2007 had problems with the way they were manufactured. Both of the disks you had fail were from that initial wave. The problem was fixed immediately after and the problem hasnt reappeared since. Your Near Dark disk will be fine assuming you take care of it.

There's at least 1 or 2 threads on the forum that talk about the issue and name all the disks, but from what I can remember....

Saw, Devils Rejects, American Psycho, Lord of War, Punisher and a few others were affected.

I could do with finding a pot of gold to fund all these September Blu Ray releases.

I enjoyed the first 4 films so I will definitely be getting this set.

I'm guessing The Condemned is on that list. I tried to watch that a few days ago and got nada. Disc looks perfect.

I want this set for the first three movies. And to see if the remake came out good at all.

I'll purchase it.
