The Wire is well in the lead on the poll, but am I right in thinking it was shot on SD video rather than film? I suspect it was because the episode running times are apparently the same on the US DVDs (NTSC) and the UK DVDs (PAL). It it was originally shot on film, there would be a difference of about two minutes per episode due to the PAL speed-up.

If that's the case, then presumably it would be impossible to re-master SD video material in HD. Am I correct?

HBO needs to get there act together and start releasing The Wire The Complete Collection, and Entourage Complete Collection, and the rest of the seasons for The Sopranos.

No, it was shot on film, but it was then scanned, and possibly edited, in SD so it would take a massive effort (and a lot of money of course) to upgrade it to HD, but it would be possible.

Well the people who put sorpanos season 2 should be considered for wanting the complete series on blu at least in my op nobody would want just the first two seasons + the last two.

So does that process explain why the NTSC and PAL running times are identical? Sorry but I'm not an expert on the various stages involved in converting original film material into home video releases.

I'm convinced that Best Buy had the first and 6th seasons pulled from their shelves recently because their website says they have them in stock, but when you go to the store they are nowhere to be found.
Also, I remember not 2 weeks ago going in there and they had a full shelf loaded with the blus. I highly doubt that all the sudden folks got an itch to buy them. Sales haven't been great so far for the Sopranos on blu, unfortunately. It's HBOs fault though.
