Page was originally in French. The link I posted is via Google Translate. Highlights/ differences between AV8801 are basically HDMI 2.0, Bluestooth, Wifi, Airplay connectivity. Dolby Atmos via firmware upgrade. Expected around Nov-Dec 2014.
There is a thread over at AVS http://www.avsforum.com/forum/90-rec...h-details.html http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&u=http://www.avcesar.com/actu/id-14423/marantz-av8802-pre-amplificateur-remplacant-de-lav8801.html&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dmarantz%2Bav8802%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26hs%3Daru%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US ![]() Last edited by onyxbfly; 06-27-2014 at 04:05 PM. |

In short I don't have any. There is no Dolby Atmos Content, Nor are there any HDMI 2.0 consumer players available. Plus I'm not sure how Atmos will work in conjunction with Audyssey. If it does not mesh seamlessly then one has to wonder if it would be possible to possible to upgrade via firmware. Far from an expert on how Dolby Atmos would/ should be implemented in conjunction with Audyssey. Just tossing my .2cents in there. I'm all for embracing new technology etc but I will have to wait ans see how this develops and implemented across consumer A/V Long answer. I'm more than happy with my AV8801. Admittedly, I am still interested in the EMO XMC-1!!! Last edited by onyxbfly; 07-03-2014 at 12:35 PM. |

http://blog.dolby.com/2014/06/dolby-...ions-answered/ Titles are quite a few already, scroll down here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolby_Atmos You will need 4 extra ceiling speakers, which in a dedicated basement HT are breeze, unless you will need to shell out 4k to match the 7.1 Paradigm Signature setup or similar. Keeping in tune with topic, of particular interest for those who process audio in reference players are the discrete HDAMs ie mini-preamplifiers for each channel on the AV8801 which I suspect will follow in the AV8802, worth upgrading from my PR-SC5509 given Stereophile's Kal Rubinson and others experiences. I am holding out for a second hand AV8802 next summer as these machines are like cars, depreciation is huge. I would really like to see affordable 4K laser projectors, and nationwide FIOS to accommodate the megadata streaming involved with these movies...dream on baby Regards Last edited by Bobpaule; 08-05-2014 at 05:16 PM. |

I say that all receivers/prepros , TV, media devices.... that tout 4K this and 4K that ,with out yet having established standards are a complete waste of money.

It's a moving target and I know people that have been sitting around for years waiting for stability while they just get older with old 5.1 systems. At some point you have to pull the trigger knowing what you are buying will be replaced by something new within 12 months. People all the time want to be told that what is latest and greatest isn't that much of an improvement over what they just purchased 12 months ago. Perhaps sometimes that is the case, but often it isn't as technology improves sometimes considerably. If you wondering what type of improvement the 8802 will be, I say wait and read reviews. I can guarantee you it will be a substantial improvement of the 8801. Not what some people want to hear, but that is technology and the world we live in.

i must be missing something, how can they dictate to me the customer, that if i choose to sell my (Marantz) gear that i purchased that i can't have in print how much i'm asking for it?
do those rules not apply to ebay or craigs, cause i see nothing but prices on Marantz gear for sale listed there? |

Hey Sunny D, not wanting to assume but what I think he is alluding to is that Marantz does not publish prices that are less than retail. He may be a sales rep, HT installer, work in a AV/ HT store etc...... He would incur a penalty for doing so. Especially if the prices he is quoting is less than retail. |
