I took Serkis saying "original films" as meaning the original theatrical releases of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi before Lucas shit all over them. Of course I don't think Lucasfilm/Disney would have appreciated him saying that.

Same here! I just watched the Prequel Trilogy, the Clone Wars series, Lost Missions and the Original Trilogy in chronological order.

Lucas' Star Wars Saga is great!

Nothing is perfect and folks will always find fault, but I choose to enjoy the work rather than live my life feeling bitter about what I didn't get or what might have been.

Of course you don't think my examples make sense, you also don't understand the conventional definition of "original"

Original means original (first, the beginning) no matter how you look at it. Doesn't matter whether you refer to them as a trilogy or as films, episode 4-6 are the original Star Wars. There is nothing original about episodes 1-3. The original Star Wars film is Episode 4, the original Star Wars films are episodes 4-6.

You can certainly interpret it however you would like. However, I have a pretty good feeling that you are the only person that would consider episodes 1-3 as original Star Wars films. It's not a matter of whether you liked them or not, even those that enjoyed episodes 1-3 wouldn't consider them "original".

Here is a question for you. If, after episodes 7-9 are finished, they end up making even more Star Wars films, will episodes 7-9 then be considered original?

Of course not! That makes absolutely no sense! Something can't start out as one things and then become original at a later date. It just doesn't work that way.

To answer your question, if you are to refer specifically to Episode VII - XI only, then no. But if we are to refer to all previous films that came before, then yes, all of them are the originals. That has always been my point, since Andy Serkis was referring to original films, not trilogy.

If I to follow your logic, then only Episode IV is the original, that I can accept. But your referring to a trilogy. You're not making any sense to me, so we'll leave it at that.

Even if one chooses to skip the Clone Wars, the Lost Missions are ESSENTIAL viewing IMO, and may well end up informing some of what we see in the future SW instalments.

Didn't know he hated Star Wars? I knew he wanted Han's death in Jedi, because in his opinion the character has nothing more to develop or direction. But I don't think he hated it.
