Some nice deals going on right now. Just ordered Gravity 3D combo for $14.99 - likely won't get lower than that for 3D. Ordered along with I, Frankenstein and Turtle's Tale 2 (both 3D).

So have I. It dropped to $17.99 and I almost bought it then, so it's a good thing I waited.

On a side note, does anyone understand amazon's price dropping? I follow the blu ray app non-stop because it's addicting and very easy to throw away money now. I have noticed that a certain movie will drop throughout the day $0.06 at a time or roughly that. Why do they slowly, slowly drop the price of one movie throughout the few days? It seems so random on the way they price some stuff, and I've always been curious.

No clue. But I am kicking myself for not buying White Men Can't Jump for $6.50, it jumped today by $10. It is interesting to watch the flucuations though.

That price was pretty short lived, it seems to have gone back up.

Sorry, not a deal, but about one...

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was $7 up until sometime yesterday afternoon. I had it in my cart with some other stuff, but like to do my actual orders from a "secure" computer and not from my laptop. By the time I got to the "big" computer, amazon had pulled the title from my cart and said it was not available.

I have never seen that happen before, something so unceremoniously "pulled"; in fact I've never had a pull in thousands of carted titles on any amazon. You?

Typically they'll say out of stock and it'll be available in some vague time so you can still do the order, but this had an untrue explanation re the vendor (it was amazon, directly) and some vague explanation re the source studio (it is MGM). It's a Canadian/bilingual release.

Just curious as to why; you hear anything? I was waiting for this to drop in price for quite a while, I do that for catalog titles that I figure I've already spent enough on over the years. Supposed to be a good transfer, the DVDs are so-so.

^ Thank you! I will go right now. Bye!

[Have a FS "gift" card (from my own VISA spending lol) and always forget to use it, never had one for there before.]

Edit: not in stock at local store, never was (I asked them to check), "no info available" online also generally means that IME. I would have been extremely surprised if it was actually at the local store, considering it's an old catalog title and not kids/sci-fi/superhero which is all they "stock" (to use the term loosely). Since it's a long-term price drop, I'll check again. Thanks.

$22.49 for the A Nightmare on Elm Street Collection. That's the lowest it's ever been, either on .ca or .com. Considering buying this but I already have the standalone for the first movie, and it's only Parts 3, 4, and New Nightmare that I want. Sigh...I'm really waffling on this.

Anybody get the Gravity 3D when $15? Dumb question...

1) mine doesn't mention DVD nor have the DVD logo anywhere on the package. This is not normal for something that's supposed to have the DVD in it. I'm guessing it doesn't. What's your package back (not the slip) look like? 2) No UV logo either, which I don't use anyway. 3) No lenticular slip, which every copy I've ever seen in a store (including today) has.

amazon.ca has been very very good lately for slips, for me, when until the last month I'd rate them the worst, maybe 1 slip out of a hundred for titles that B&M copies have slips (yeah, really that bad!).

Thanks. Wanted to watch this tonight, but not now, thinking I didn't get what I ordered, good thing I looked carefully.

Edit: the U.S. 3D version doesn't have the DVD logo either. Just checked every other BD title I have from this and last year with a DVD, and they all have the DVD logo, except this one. So may not be a problem after all...?

I am whiney today.

More edit: checking on the walmart site, where they give the actual barcode numbers: it matches what I got from amazon. Still POed about no lenticular, think I'll return it anyway, nobody wants 3Ds without their slips, especially lenticulars. So this post is completely useless after all. I'll leave it in case somebody else wonders about their Gravity 3D.

Except for people who do that stupid thing, and buy movies for .. you know, the movies themselves, not the artwork =P I don't give a flying you know what about slips, or if they're lenticular or not.

The Gravity 3D lenticular cover states the UV and DVD copies included, but not on the inner packaging as you said already. I PMed the Bluray at Best Buy last week.

^ Yeah, I could have done that. Problem is, the drive to BB will eat any savings, and I mentioned in the FS/BB thread the other week that FS (very close) wants to charge shipping with any PM (apparently they do that under $25).

I don't care about the slips in general, otherwise, as clearly inferred, I wouldn't be purchasing BDs from amazon. Except I've been getting them for almost everything in the last month, just like in the stores.

However, I am told that it is hard to sell 3D BDs that came "everywhere" with lenticular covers, without them. There does seem to be a ton of people who care about slips, just the regular ones even. People sell the slips, there is apparently a real market for them. (Thus my speculation long ago that someone at amazon might be removing them for their own purposes, since copies in stores had slips for ages after my amazon orders.) People who sell (used) BDs with slips seem to expect $2-3 more too.

The market is the market, it isn't based on what I think or care about. Not yet...

And why it matters a little more for Gravity is there will almost undoubtably be a "proper" release soon, with audio more appropriate for the film and what is possible...that was a sore point for many who are audio fans, we discussed it in a thread here I think. So Gravity is one of the few BDs I've ever bought with intentions to ditch it soon even before I got it.

Yeah, it's not a big deal, even not in the scheme of things. But amazon CS told me that if I receive a product in a condition such that I wouldn't buy it in a store (damaged, incomplete, etc.) then I should return it. I wish they shrinked the lenticular slips on like other studios often do, even WB for other titles. Maybe amazon got a special deal on copies without them...

Edit again: It would really help me if some people who got the Gravity 3D from amazon.ca recently could tell me if they got the lenticular cover. amazon rep says it should have the cover, but they have no way to tell if without one is an anomaly or the same for all they have (now). i.e. exchanging might make no diff. They have no internal mechanism to check stock (besides quantity) and report to customers or CS reps apparently.
