If TT put as much time and effort into their releases I'd have bought every single one of them at the price they ask for right now, haha.

I saw a dude who was frustrated that he couldnt afford something he loved while people bought it blindly not as film lovers but as collectors who could in turn make a profit off it if they happened to not like it. I missed out on stuff before because I couldnt afford it at the time, like Fright Night, and we all know what went down with that. I secured him a copy with other members because maybe we, I dont know, appreciate film lovers over collectors. People have been waiting yearrrrrs for this, and it was cool hooking a dude up who will appreciate this set front to back up and down and not just have another trophy for their shelf to try and impress girls they will never kiss.

I have the LE pre-ordered but whether or not I cancel will depend on the special features it has that are not on the standard release.

You can always get the regular release of the extended cut.... and hope WB puts out the original one day. Or get the original cut on DVD. Sure you're missing out on the bonus disc of extras.

But that's the breaks for not buying the more expensive LE set.
I just want to know if Nightbreed is the most expensive movie for any company in the history of film to ever have to restore and get licenses for because alot of other films get the same thing, but dont cost 80 bucks. Just asking.....please don't lynch me.

Tommy,

I gotta say that was damn cool of you hook RF up with a copy of the LE of Nightbreed. I raise my drink to you. Cheers.

Concerning the movie: The more fleshed out story of the Cabal/Barker's cut is all that I have ever wanted out of this release so the D/C will be fine for me. It's kind of a drag that I won't get the extras disc but I don't get geeked out over extras anyway, so that's not a great loss to me.

Keep up the good karma,

Jerry

I'm thinking about getting a couple extra copies and trading it to US members here on the board that were unable to get a copy in exchange for a few Criterion blu-rays from the Barnes and Noble sale (as Criterions are expensive here in Canada).

Thomas Irwin, Lacrymosa, and rdm5777 are great dudes for showing up with most of the funds. I remember when I saw other members pool together to get somebody a blu-ray player and thought it was an amazing show of community. There are really cool and generous people on these forums

cheers right back at you!

Im in the same camp about the extras not really being much a concern, but im really curious about them in this release. The story of how this all came to fruition is a historical one. I really do love the theatrical version, too, and getting that on blu was the ultimate selling point for me. Either way, im glad that theres a wide release for the directors cut so nobody has to miss out on that specifically. Fingers crossed that the audio comes out better than expected!

Ok, I missed my chance with Amazon for the DC of the movie. Of the remaining options, which ones seem my best chance?

BB, SF, B&N, Rakuten, Blowitoutahere

SF is direct, so I would assume they would ship.
I've seen a few posts about B&N and concern about canceling their pre-orders. How about the rest of them?

Thanks.

Your absolute best chance is Shout. All the others may not receive much stock and therefore you stand a greater chance at missing out on it.

It's a high price now but you'll be paying a lot more if you miss out.

Shout Factory if you want a 100% guarantee of getting the film.

All of the others you will be taking a chance not receiving it.

Blowitoutahere would be my last choice due to piss poor packaging i have received in the past from them. Also B&N as I have had orders cancelled in the past from them.

It's a niche title for one. And Shout Factory is a small company.

So there is less of a safety net to spread the costs around.

Thanks to tommynorcal for putting up the entire amount initially to secure a copy before Diabolik sold out. The lion's share of the work, risk and responsibility. If it wasn't for that, we would have missed that opportunity. Awesome job, and great altruism shown by everyone.
