The artwork is superb!

Well, I guess I need to unload my BFI Tati discs. Also looking forward to Clementine.

Solid month. The only thing I'm not sure of is the Tati set. Seems some people either love it or hate it. Otherwise... I might end up with the rest.

Those are the things I flash to when I think of this film. And again, that's not intended to take anything away from the ending.

That was pretty good too

Was Clementine teased or hinted or calendar-ed at all?

It feels out of the blue but that doesn't seem totally right either.

Don't think I've seen any "hate" for the Tati set.

EDIT: I stand corrected, though this doesn't surprise me.

70's Welles, though, where he was getting by on interviews, commercials, voiceovers and Muppet cameos, hard living and "persecuted" celebrity/notoriety had taken its toll, and you could see the lazy Brando-like cynicism setting in.

One of his "prestige" voiceover/host work from '71, introducing classic films for a TV series, you can sense the master a bit unprepared, if not visibly awash:

I know many have already said it but Criterion should post on thir site that they will stop pressing new DVDS on future titles starting (for example) june 2015 and will go BLU ray only. It would give a lot of time for those DVD buyers to come to terms with the change and really if they cared about video/ audio they would be BLU already. (Many may not realize a BLU player can play their DVDs also) criterion were king of laserdiscs and helped create how special editions of films were made. They just need to go 100% BLU.

One of the things that I really love about The Vanishing is
[Show spoiler]how the man's family is unknowingly complicit in his kidnapping plot. He uses the birthday presents that they gave him as props to lure the woman into his vehicle. This is so wonderfully sinister that I just have to smile whenever I revisit the film.

No to this. Why penalize those who buy Criterion titles on DVD? You buy blu, as do most on this site, but some don't want to invest. Just let them be. Live and let live.

Couldn't agree more.

Even if you could demonstrate that moving solely to BD would benefit me - Al Franken - I would probably still be reluctant to freeze out people who still want DVDs.

But there really is no benefit to me - Al Franken - so I'm even more solidly in the 'wtf do I care what other people buy' camp.

Well, I guess there'll be several of us dropping our PlayTime blu-rays and Trafic DVDs on eBay tonight, eh? That Tati set is so exciting!! I've been wanting to see Jour de fête for a long time! And, also, more John Ford is always welcome. (Every single title this month is an upgrade for me...)
