Those scenes never made it past the workprint, so if by some incredibly slim chance Cinemax got hold of that and broadcast it, the quality would not only be poor but it would be missing all the sound effects, Mercedes McCambridge's demon voice, optical effects, etc.

Burke's death scene was never filmed nor even written in any way (confirmed by Blatty).
Im absolutely 100% not confused about what i saw. Of course, i have no proof as i didnt have a way to record it at the time. I watched it twice, back to back on cinemax east/west. The scenes exist!!!!!!

Does anyone else get the feeling that the sequels & prequels will be virtually bare bones in regards to special features just like the DVD set?

I'd like to be proven wrong though.

I'm pretty sure there's nothing new for those, so they'll at best be identical to the DVD set.

Memory is a lot less reliable than we like to think. I wouldn't be 100% or even 90% sure that any old visual memory is what I actually saw at the time, as opposed to a reconstruction based on some later concept I had of what I saw.

To Dylan34's defense, it's not the first person to say this. Which makes this weirder.

Well one thing's for sure is that Burke's death scene wasn't scripted and filmed.

Blatty also never physically showed the death in the novel.

Maybe the footage came from a workprint?

The problem is that I don't think the audio exists anymore so it may not have been physically possible to show the footage.

Who knows.

Still no pre-orders of the individual Exorcist movies on Amazon or Warner Shop site.

I wonder what sort of packaging the complete set will have; individual cases, a multi-case or some sort of fold-out cardboard tray thing?

In most cases individual releases don't get announced until the box set has been out for a while. Obviously they want for people to buy the box set first.

They announced the individual titles the same day they announced the anthology. It's supposed to be coming out the same day as far as I know.

i really only get movies if the video quality is good or as good as the source allows. i do watch special features and listen to commentaries but that is not as important as video quality to me.

I have heard many people claim to have seen a different version of the film, however it usually turns out they saw one of the many rip-offs and got them mixed up.

I've only heard one other person adamantly claim they saw those specific scenes before, and that was a troll on IMDB. First they claimed to have seen it on TV, then they said it was a friend's copy of the original VHS, then it changed to the version found in the 25th anniversary deluxe set...

Yeah the picture & sound quality should be first priority but it would be nice to have some decent bonus stuff as well.

The special features are extremely sparse on the DVD's.

We need to at least have some new commentaries on the sequels. I would be happy with just those. Hopefully something!

The MSRP is very low for a reason, this will likely be pretty bare aside from the original. The press release mentioned nothing new, and Warner usually touts those things.

Years ago when WB contacted me for bonus materials for both EXORCIST and HERETIC DVD releases I offered my services to contact John Boorman to do a commentary. They turned it down because he lives in Ireland and would pay for him to come to the U.S. They also wouldn't pay to do one in Ireland. Since I had done audio commentaries I offered to do one, and even asked if they would like to get Linda Blair (all for the HERETIC) .... since Linda was in Connecticut and I am in NY I figured it would be easier. Hell, if she were up to it she could come to my home where I have done an audio commentary previous to make things easier and very cheap. They turned it down. Although they did use some of my collection as bonus materials they turned down a lot. An amazing thing considering they DON'T PAY or offer TO PAY for the stuff. All I got was a free DVD out of it.

We need a "I did a commentary for Warner, and all I got was this lousy T-shirt" shirt
