It was available for two weeks, and some people COULDNT get it because they were waiting for their next check -Some people did not have that chance right away and those who were on the fence for whatever reason missed out...it sold very quickly and not everyone is on Facebook or here to catch that opportunity. Many waited until Amazon had it for less and some people missed out on that too. Opportunities were there but since it was limited to 5000 some people that were ready to get it could not. People missed out, hence they were upset, now they can buy it ...I dont see a problem with that.
You're trying to understand one side's argument, while completely dismissing the other's. Whatever. It's obvious you don't care what one group has to say on the matter, so it really is pointless to continue any further.

yes but since amazon doesn't charge until it ships, people could place the order and if they don't have funds now, put some aside each month so they have enough when it comes out
granted if amazon did a pre authorization charge then I could see the worry

I've always disagreed w/ the long-standing paradigm of limited edition releases. I can understand companies employing gimmicks in order to make a profit, but truly limited releases have always been anti-consumer, simply due to supply being lower than demand. A marketing tactic should never alienate consumers.

WB is just far too stingy w/ their films. They should have initially licensed Nightbreed w/o any quantity restriction--now we have this mess. Had Shout! Factory not chosen to distribute Nightbreed, would WB ever have done anything w/ it? I can envision film reels wasting away in a giant vault. The fact that Shout! Factory even sourced the missing footage and are bringing 2 cuts of Nightbreed to Blu-ray is laudable.

However, I cannot stress enough how horrible it is for Shout! Factory to put up pre-orders 4 months in advance, before so many details are finalized; this, for better or worse, gives them plenty of time to change things up on the consumers. They should have pushed pre-orders closer to release date, prepared more details on the product, and remained committed to their marketing.

Agreed, and the Amazon preorders were open for a good bit, as well, so there were no excuses, really.

I am just happy that the nice people on this board got me this awesome movie. I don't feel sorry for the scalpers though that buy it just to sell it for a profit. I am happy those people were screwed, I am also happy the people they screwed can still get this!

yes none at all, i think the preorder lasted for 4 to 5 days if not mistaken maybe longer, that is quite enough time for everyone on this site who wanted a copy to secure one

It didn't last that long. But yeah if people were aware of it and were just gunshy about putting in their order in it is their own fault. Sucks for those just learning about it when it is pretty much sold out though.

I mean, here's the thing: This Blu-Ray was announced last year, and Scream Factory made sure to talk about it on Facebook. No one who was super interested should have been caught off-guard, and even if they were, the Collector's Edition was still going to be readily available so they could enjoy the film in HD regardless.

It's good to know that they will increase production up to 10,000.
Gives more people the opportunity to buy it.

And you dont seem to care that fans who did not purchase it before can buy it now. I guess you missed out on all the fans complaints - those who were not able to buy it..for whatever the reasons are -who are you to say *they had plenty of time* do you personally know everyone who were not able to get it and why they couldnt ?
No, you dont
The whole thing is pointless. Its 10000 now end of story..

Fans still had the option to buy the Collector's Edition. The film, in HD, was still going to be readily available to any and all fans of the film.

Oh wow I completely missed out on them announcing the adjustment to 10,000 copies. Good for the people who missed out.

No, definitely not. I understand the meaning of "Limited Edition", and I can understand both sides of the argument. That's very different from your stance and ridiculous statements.

So SF makes a big deal about a 5,000 print run, of which the first 1,000 get an exclusive poster and shipping. Then, they change that to the first 2500. Then they announce that the audio will not be a complete restoration. Now they double the production run because, surprise surprise, the limited edition was actually limited and sold out. And they still want to charge 80 dollars? This release is getting more and more ridiculous. When you set a run limit, stick to it. Paying a premium to just get the movie two weeks early is ridiculous. Will be cancelling my SF order now for sure. Amazon for me.

Yes. But to be fair, I do think there is a fine distinction between "gunshy" and prudent. I myself am well aware of the need to order early on editions like this, but still hesitated long enough to miss my second to last opportunity on Diabolik. Thankfully Amazon came in with a cheaper price, one that was easier for me to live with. Some people simply have more leeway in their finances than others. It's quite true - and a good suggestion - that people could preorder on Amazon and save a bit here and there over time - but this doesn't change the fact that for some this is still a "luxury item", no matter how much beloved. A lot can change in four months, especially for someone on a limited budget. The minor added "burden" may still need be considered by some.

Most likely they will have paid via paypal -> open a dispute, claim that the description was incorrect. The item was never sold out and the quantity has changed. Worth trying, else a lesson learned at high cost.

I had an order in for two copies. One from Shout and one from Amazon still. I am going to still keep both for now. As the release date nears I might cancel one though...not sure. The reason I ordered the second copy from Amazon was mainly for the low price and collectible nature so the fact that they doubled the production does make me want that second copy a little less I will be honest.

Buying it off Amazon doesn't seem like a very effective way to boycott them. You may want to reconsider that strategy.

I'm really pleased about this as I'm one of those who missed out on the oppurtunity to order from amazon.com.
I am an international buyer, so half of the sites nailed on to get copies where unavailable to me.
I went on my hols to a caravan on the west coast of Wales with less than zero Internet access!
When i came back from my holiday It had sold out on amazon and only a few companies with no realhistory of always coming through on limited orders had it available for me as a UK buyer.
So I am very happy more are being added. 10,000 is still a very limited release for a worldwide exclusive currently, and the only way the value of a limited release has any real bearing is if you are going to sell it on. Otherwise Its just a great set for fans of the film, and I for one am pleased I will now have a much better chance of securing a copy for myself.

Anyone else wonder why they picked director David Cronenberg for the role? He did a great job just wondering why they picked him. He is so chilling though the way he talks and acts. He was also good in Jason X for his short role.
