Australia Original Game of Thrones box sets OOP?

I've been meaning to get Game of Thrones season 1-3 on Blu-ray so I can rewatch them in prepatation for season 4. I had a look at JB and for some reason season 1 and 2 are now in normal Amaray cases.

What happened to this set?

Is there anywhere that still sells that version? Not sure about Amazon/UK since they don't show an image of the actual case.

I thought the Australian releases have always been in amaray cases? The only thing that would've been extra with the earlier runs of the Australian version was just a very standard looking slipcase.

My Season 2 Boxset I got off Amazon US was like the one shown in your picture.

Those are the US sets. The only HBO release that was a Digipak was True Blood Season 1. After that, all releases have been amray with slipcases. The first season came in a limited edition from JB and a different artwork from Sanity.

You can get the first three seasons in Digipacks via the 3-Season set. I saw it in The Warehouse this morning.

I'd say it would be the re-released version of Season 1 though (the George Bush head on a spike controversy).

Hmm, might have to go for the US ones then, even though season 1 and 2 are half price at JB at the moment if you buy 3.

The first release, atleast in the US, was pulled and re-released after someone in a commentary or interview commented that one of the heads featured on a spike, was modeled off George Bush.

[Show spoiler]
Pretty much right at the time Season 2 was released on DVD/BD too, so the original set was in circulation for about a year before it was pulled off shelves.

Granted it's Season 2, but I have this version (unopened) which I suspect is a digipack b/c it doesn't rattle like an amaray.

Is there a way to tell from the packaging if you get the original, unaltered Season 1 with the "George Bush" scene intact? A bar code difference?

Depends when you bought it. You could just stick it on and look for the head...
