No news yet and I doubt it will, ITV seemed to give up releasing catalogue titles in the UK a few years ago so if you want this show I would recommend importing it.

Has anyone else seen The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes at their store? I bought the other 4 but would like some additional confirmations before making the drives to the other stores for Memoirs.

Went to pick up the rest at Costco today after getting through disc one of Adeventures. No sign of Memoirs at any Costco in my general area (I'm in Washington). Alas, I don't know if I'll get all the way there before the real street date, but we shall see.

I went to 2 Costcos in my Area, only one of them had the Sherlock Holmes sets, but Memoirs was sadly not one of them.

Nope, I went back to the first SoCal store where I swear I saw all 5 of them 2 weeks ago and now there are only the 4 sets minus Memoirs. I got them 4 but am waiting for reviews on PQ before opening them.

Default Spanish vs US Version

My local COSTCO also has the first four sets but after reading your impressions, I am unsure what to do. I have been holding off on the Spanish set because it doesn't have subtitles. I always have problems picking up British dialog and when watching British shows on PBS, BBC etc., I always use the subtitles.

You say both sets are better than the DVDs, but are the US disks really that inferior to the Spanish disks? If there really is a marked drop off in PQ, then perhaps, I could live without the subtitles in the Spanish edition.

That is assuming they don't just shrink wrap the 5 individual sets together.

I am no expert. But to my eye the Spanish set is significantly better. I only watched a few episodes... and the issues I noticed made me return the rest, unopened (lower PQ, high noise, sound issues in some eps, etc).

I have been watching the Spanish set again and find myself enjoying even more, having seen the US version. But... that is just me. As I said, I am not a technical expert. Just my take.

I understand it might be tough to live without the subtitles. Tough call!

Yes. Watched a few episodes today. Vastly improved over the US DVD on PQ.

Now please bring Joan Hickson's Miss Marple on blu as well.

I compared the US DVD and blu releases of the feature films on my 72' HDTV. I can confidently say that the PQ on the blu ray is a vast upgrade over that of the previous R1 DVD releases.

Just learned about these Blus and couldn't be more excited! For a few years, I've had the remastered DVD box set in my Amazon wish list. Now I'm glad I've never gotten around to buying it since Blu-rays are coming out.

I'm curious as to why Costco has them so early. Are they in fact the same?

They probably arranged a timed exclusive, Best Buy did the same with the Batman Dark Knight Returns Deluxe Edition which they had for a month or two before it went on general sale.

Thanks, Indiana Jones.

I've read that there was day-for-night problems with the non-US release. Anyone know if that's still the case?
