Yeah, I know. But what I am saying is it should be the same as the 40s with speaker stands. That is why I bought them instead of 40s for the fronts. It should be fine for rear speakers.

That's pretty much my system, only I'm using the RX-V 563. Going to be picking up Klipsch Towers and a center speaker though, as I want the ability to go to 7.1 and I really enjoy the sound from the Klipsch, but it was more than I was looking to spend when I originally bought my speakers/receiver

I'm finding that out quickly already haha. I'm going with the Klipsch 52 series, but where I'm buying them from has a trade in deal within a year where you can get full value of your speakers if you trade them in for something that's more than 50% the original price, and I can definitely see myself doing that in a year.

I was in nearly the same position as you. Here is what I bought:
Onkyo 605 $310 Refurb from ecost.com Polk CS1 (Center) $75 from eBay Polk Monitor 50 (Left, Right) $250 from Amazon Polk Monitor 30 (Rear Pair) $120 from Amazon Polk PSW10 Sub $105 from Amazon Total so far is $880 (shipping included, get prime if you don't already have it). I also spent $55 on speaker wire, banana plugs, and an audio cable to the sub from the receiver for $55 from monoprice.com. This comes to a grand total of $935. If I purchased the receiver and center channel new and looked for some deals, I could have still done this in under $1000 your budget. If you want specifics, pm me. Are your longest runs more than 80 feet? |

I did the same setup, except I have not upgraded my sub yet. I will get something a little bigger than the PSW10. I also have a Sony STR-DG920 on preorder instead of the Onkyo. I must say, I love it. I just hooked up my Monitor 30s today. It sounds great so far!

my sub vibrated the Metal of the mail-slot, the picture window, the remote if it's sitting on the end-table, dishes in the cabinets in the kitchen in the other room.... etc. etc. etc... (you get the point) so I have done my best to have bass-traps, accoustical treatments, placement, etc. to eliminate vibrations..... I couldn't imagine setting something directly on top of my sub..... |
