The opening should just be a pan over the remains of a horrible wreck or battle, with Luke's lightsaber being one part of the debris. I think that would be quite awesome!

That would be much better.

But I still would like it more if the camera pans down/up revealing a big ship moving above the camera, it's tradition.

Then maybe we see the big ship firing the main cannons destroying another ship, and then goes into lightspeed leaving the wreck or debris behind. Only now we see the lightsaber floating. It will put the idea that Luke has been killed. At least we have some early action.

Hamill-classy and relateable guy as always.

Yeah, that would have been a winger if he was asked about the hand.

Gotta love what I now call "Hand-gate".

His comment about the "contractually obligated" beard makes me wonder why no one has tried to refute the idea of Luke's having turned his back on the Jedi by wondering why he didn't bother to shave. Might sound silly, but it's no sillier than the explanations for why the hand could survive.

He reminds me of Zach Galifianakis in that picture.

Would SW fanboys around the world unite in anger if they introduced new force powers in this series? kind of like the freak of the weak episodes on Smallville for many years? I kinda think that could go over well.

No probably not. The EU introduced all kinds of stuff. It just needs to follow the established rules, and not be lame.

I still say what would be an interesting twist is if Leia and Han never married. It would actually make sense considering the old Jedi law forbidding it and that Leia was going to be trained as a Jedi. That would knock the SW community on its ass because everyone assumed Han and Leia would marry based on the EU novels.

I'm wondering if we'll see a rethought Jedi order. Those old dudes were wrong about a lot of stuff, and half of the things Yoda and Ben told Luke not to do are the very things that ultimately helped him triumph.

You may be right about a rethought Jedi Order and that's pretty much what I'm expecting to see. I think what they'll realize is that Jedi supressing their feelings is ultimately more dangerous than acknowledging them.
