This isn't a film I hate, but I'm not entirely sure how much I like it. and that's Michael Haneke's Funny Games U.S Version. On one hand, I don't care for it's condescending talking down to the viewer. I don't think its message or theme has any merit. That said, I bought it because I'll never forget the feeling the film gave me while watching it. It was a total slap in the face to the viewer and nothing I could have ever prepared myself before. I saw it in the theater and once the lights came up the audience let out a collective "What the heck was that!?" I personally couldn't help but love it since it had the balls to essentially sat "**** you" to the audience. So yeah, I'm not a fan of what the film stands for. But I bought it because I love the feeling it gave me.

Another one is Martyrs. I bought that film recently after seeing it all the way back when it first came out. I was honestly unsure if I'd watch it again because I could barely get through it the first time. It's taken me all this time to revisit it due to how traumatizing it was the first go around. That said, I do think it's a genuinely good film. Just one I can only revisit ever 5 years or so. It's definitely one of the best horror films of the last decade, despite the fact that there are a few instances where I wish the film would release itself from the trappings of the horror genre. Some of the extremity could be toned down just a tad, although I recognize that for the most part, the movie needs to portray itself pretty ferociously to work. But yeah... I also just find it incredibly moving, albeit very existentially terrifying.

I bought Martyrs too, even though I know it's a naturally upsetting and cruel movie. And I have the US Funny Games too (and I would buy the original Funny Games if it comes to Blu-Ray). Those are more examples of movies that are upsetting, but still worthwhile.

Another big one I recently saw was Irreversible. It's a brutal watch, but a heck of an experience.

Robocop 3. Cause it was in the trilogy set. Hates a strong term, but I cannot watch it just awful.

Yeah- this one. I don't hate it per se, but I have no memory of anything about it. I still haven't watched the BD. There is so much other amazing material in the set, that there's no rush to get to a film I'm not interested in re-watching.

The only way I see this happening is buying movies I didn't particularly love but getting it for other reasons like the film's importance or by completing a series. The "good to have" category. It may not be an absolute favorite as it stands, but has the potential because perhaps your first impressions weren't under the best circumstances.

Maybe someone who buys Cars because it's the only Pixar movies they're "missing," which describes me at the moment. I never saw it to hate it, but yeah.

There aren't movies I hate really. I usually find some value in it or give it a chance sometime later. I'm quicker to blame myself for not getting it than to say I hate it.

Thor 2 is awesome, you need to re-watch it bro. Pay attention to the characters and not just Thor, bro.

I would never have bought Batman and Robin on it's own but it was part of the set which I found for $9.99. I figure it's still a good deal for 3 movies that I'll watch.

Haha, same deal here. No way I ever would have bought Batman Forever or Batman & Robin without this set being cheaper than just the first two. I dunno if I'd say that I HATE Batman & Robin, but I definitely don't like it at all!

On DVD, I blind bought a couple movies that I ended up hating, but I got rid of them cause they were the sort of lurid trash that resells on ebay (Thriller: A Cruel Picture and I Spit On Your Grave).

I think Avatar is a giant turd of a movie. It's been years since I first watched it, and I have yet to purchase it. However I've heard time and time again how great the 3D effects were for the film, so I plan on purchasing it (The 3d version) when I can find it for around $15. Who knows, by that point enough time will have passed and if the 3D is as Amazing as many people state, maybe I won't hate it anymore.

That's a good one. I didn't hate Avatar but I didn't particularly care for it either but if I ever move to a projector (and bother buying 3D glasses) I would be seriously tempted to look around for a used copy.

I will usually buy a movie I don't really care for only if it is part of a trilogy or something like that. I must feed my OCD for completion.

Hmm, none. I have some titles that are part of collections (Batman and Robin, Semi-Pro, Full Metal Jacket) that I'm apathetic to, but that's about it.

I've definitely had blind buys that didn't work out too well though. The Gore Gore Girls, Wizard of Gore, Jekyll and Hyde Portfolio, Clockwork Blue, Runaway Nightmare, Massage Parlor Murders, The Church, Snuff, The Image, Hangar 18, The Redeemer etc.

Mission Impossible II!

What an absolute piece of dreck! Tragically, it is labeled 'M:I-2' on its spine and sits right there between the great 'M:I-1' and 'M:I-3.' I've tried removing it but my OCD would never allow such a thing.

*Sigh*

The only interesting thing about MI2 is that it's basically an action movie remake of one of my favourite Hitchcock films.
