No, it's not.

Candyman 2 is a decent movie. I don't love it but it's not a raging tire fire either. I'll buy it eventually.

Uh... Yes, it is. It's always rather strange when sequels get released prior to their respective originals, in any franchise, especially when the original is generally considered a decent classic within the genre and has been released everywhere else but the U.S. Not to mention most folks prefer to watch their (franchise) movies in chronological order (the first time, at least) so you can have some sense of the back story going forward.

I'm still waiting for the original one myself. To be honest, I'd actually prefer a nice Candyman Triple Feature. It's somewhat encouraging to at least see part 2 hitting the streets soon though...

All DVDs and BluRays available worldwide of part 1 only include the R-rated version and not the gorier unrated version that was available on the German VHS or the Japanese Laserdisc.

Is there any indication that this will be a collector's edition?

I love Candyman and Candyman 2: Farewell To The Flesh. The atmosphere and music score on both are FANTASTIC. Candyman 3 was ABYSMAL to put it mildly. It was AWFUL.

All of the upcoming Shout Factory blu-ray releases, should be merged into one thread, instead of having individual threads for each movie.

Nah, each film needs its own thread for individual discussion.

Yeah, the 3rd was not great, but I love Tony Todd, such a great underrated actor.

Yeah, I liked the setting too. Different for a horror movie. New Orleans just seems more cliche.

Yes. Setting a horror film in an inner city housing project is brilliant I think. It's extremely creepy.
