I'm pretty satisfied with my DVDs of Dolls and Scarecrows.... It'll take some compelling exrras for me to double dip.

Nice! i want them all and i'm glad i don't own the original Escape BD as the BD sucked and i hope they do a new restoration with new PQ supervised by Carpenter himself and a new transfer to Mad Max as i don't own the original BD. I'll sell my old MM, Escape 2-disc DVD, Dolls, Monkey Shines, TDH, Candyman DVDs and get the BDs. And finally NYE will be avaliable to the public after those bootleg DVDs.
Csn't wait for Dolls, Scarecrows, Escape from NY, and New Years Evil..
I just bought these...44295_medium.jpg56846_large.jpg

Pretty weak list for me. Some ok choices , but New Years Evil is the only one that jumps out and even that is hardly among my most favorite slasher films.

Apart from the big titles of Mad Max and EFNY, the others are low rated and not great. But then that's what we all like - 80s/90s horror and sci fi that the label holders won't bother releasing on blu. Thanks Scream, 88. Arrow and the others.

Already have Dolls blu ray. Might upgrade EFNY from my existing blu, still also have the DVD collectors one with the comic. Will wait for confirmed PQ news.

Will only consider Mad Max if it has Aussie audio, even if just as an option

No interest in candyman 2 or Monkey Shines, rewatched my DVD couple of weeks ago

Might go for Dark Half and Phantom of the Opera, both blind buys though.

Very disappointed no Phantasm collection, Shocker, Stepfather 2 or Class of 1999 all would suit Scream and IMO sell really well.

They are unwatchable garbage, not worth fretting about, I am sure some lunatic will release them some time.

Candyman is Sony. Candyman 2 is MGM. I actually prefer 2 to the first one overall, but yes it would be nice to see it released one of these days.

Sony did do a Special Edition DVD the same time they Christine, so possibly a Twilight Time title in the future.

Not super excited by the announcement...not a single release was on my most wanted list. I may pick up Invaders From Mars & Dolls if cheap enough ($15 or less) but that is it. Like someone else said, they seem to be stuck in a 80's mindset. I would have liked to see some older films announced or some better 80's films.

I can't think of many other reasonably significant 80s MGM titles left now for Scream to release. Vampire's Kiss, The Curse 1 and 2, and Lady in White spring to mind of titles previously released on DVD, and I'd be stunned if they ever released Clownhouse. Of the early 90s there's The Ambulance, Needful Things and, though it's a TV movie, Sometimes They Come Back. There are still a fair number of what might be deemed 'lesser' 80s/90s MGM titles that never got a DVD release, but it remains to be seen if Scream are willing to release these on Blu. Some double features might work here.

I wonder if they'll change tact and release more 70s MGM titles next year, like upgrades of the old Midnite Movies release?

For those disappointed in this year's announcements (I'm actually pretty excited by this year's announcements), don't get too disheartened because this is just a smidgen of what is to come for 2015. Remember that Scream usually release around fifty films a year, and so far there are just seven announced for next year. If your favorites were not announced, there is a good chance they might be in the future.

This happened to me last year. I was disappointed by the lack of Sleepaway Camp, and other highly requested titles. But, in the months after CC2014, my main wants started to trickle out in announcements. I believe we are in for a good list of titles next year, not only from Scream, but from all the other labels as well.

I know they have mentioned that the Count Yorga films sold rather poorly on DVD for MGM, so it would be hard for their bosses to green light Blu releases. However, having said that, I believe we will see films like Count Yorga and Yorga Returns in the future. I hope sales have been solid enough on their titles that they can afford to give a release a second chance on Blu Ray.

I know Clownhouse will never be released again, but I actually think it is a solid little film. Too bad there is so much controversy surrounding the title.

Loved the first one.....used to think I loved the 2nd one as well until I revisited it on Netflix the other night. I don't know what I was thinking as a kid.

Does anyone think they didn't announce any older pre-80s titles because of the age demographic of the comic con audience ? Maybe they felt that they'd get more ooohs and ahhhhs from the audience - many of them might not even know about Count Yorga or Empire of the Ants or maybe they were too embarrassed to even say the names of the titles because they aren't "cool" sounding like the Dark Half or Mad Max.
I can almost hear the SF execs saying *do you really want to announce movies titles such as Blacula or Count Yorga to a modern day comic con audience * ? Just a theory I had

I'm happy about the Romero flicks. I worked on Dark Half for a couple of days. Wish it was a Collector's Edition.

I'd really love to see someone do a Special Edition of Needful Things with the extra hour or so of added footage that was shown on TNT.

Also, like to see a BD of 'Salem's Lot. The FULL 210 min. version that aired in '79.

Frogs would be nice too. Maybe John Carpenter's Someone's Watching Me.

Candyman 2, new years evil and invaders from Mars for me. I don't really want to double dip Mad Max and Escape from New York due to both having great transfers.

Absolutely agree with your post. Comic-Con is more mainstream than when it started. I would imagine the large part of the crowd would be younger crowds.
