I will be buying the 1976 original stand-alone BD. This is an all-time horror classic.

Also have to give some props to "Final Conflict", just for having the classiest variations on Jerry Goldsmith's scores, including one of the all-time short-listers for "Greatest Title Sequences That Turn Out to Be Better Than The Rest of the Movie".

But the Omen remake actually had its own fans to blame itself on: Admit it, weren't you (or didn't you know somebody who did) one of the people who thought it was cool back in December '05 to say "Hey, like, there's going to be a June 6, 2006 coming up next year...Wouldn't it be freakin' cool if they put the Omen back in theaters?" And when one dopey fan too many says it in the buzz-press...Be Careful What You Wish For. ![]() (See? Just caaaan't resist the "I thought it was clever!" temptation, can you?...And that's how it happened in the first place.) Although technically, it's now "The Omen 666"...So, if that creepy-girl TV-movie was IV, does that mean the name-only "evil virus" TV-series pilot was number V? ![]() Last edited by EricJ; 06-08-2008 at 09:11 PM. |

Actually I was focusing more on the timeliness of it as opposed to whether or not it was clever. Although I suppose the 2 are linked in so much as it is clever to release a Christmas movie in late Nov or Dec. ![]() |

I disagree. I liked the remake so much more than the original. IMO, it was far more believable for Schrieber and Stiles to have a kid than Peck (and actor in his 60's at the time) and Remick. I mean they were too old. And Marco Beltrami's score was SOOOO much better than Jerry Goldsmiths. I really only like his score for Alien. And besides, the remake followed the original perfectly. They did not alter it and make it all Hollywood. It was definitely one of the better remakes to come out of Hollywood. I do appreciate the original, I jusr prefer the remake. Oh, and Mia Farrow as Mrs. Baylock was just too perfect.
