Definitely must be seen in IMAX 3D. The fact that many scenes are formatted to fill the IMAX screen (despite not being filmed in IMAX) makes it a must see in IMAX.

Today is my birthday so my wife took me to see GOTG in IMAX 3-D. It was totally worth it! I thought the movie looked and sounded good in 2-D, but it was GORGEOUS in IMAX. I absolutely loved it! I enjoyed the movie more the second time around. If you have the chance, absolutely go see it in IMAX 3-D. You'd never know it wasn't shot in native 3-D.

Guardians of the Galaxy is without a doubt one of the MCU's best movies. The problems I had with it were the villains (Ronan and Nebula). Besides the actors' performances, the villains mostly bored me. Marvel just can't pull of a truly great villain (Loki was ruined for me in the Avengers).

decided to get a 2nd IMAX viewing in at the new Telford cineworld cinema y'day and I didnt realise the birmingham screen crops 16:9 images
the aspect ratio changes were VERY visible this time round, but first viewing over a week ago, I would have been convinced the UK only got the standard widescreen version - from what I could tell the Telford screen was the same height wise, but not as wide as Birmingham's.
tut tut birmingham, tut tut


anyway, movie seemed much funnier and prettier- the full screen space shots/battle at the end had me open mouthed and 'wow-ing' in awe - second time round and has me gagging for a 3rd viewing already
REALLY hope the blu-ray release has the changing aspect ratios on at least the 2 OR 3d versions, if not both.

Guardians isn't just one of my favorite comic book films, it's one of my favorite films period. Might sound like hyperbolic praise to some, but sometimes movies connect with you to the point where they become instant favorites.

I understand. I'm going to feel that way very soon when Interstellar comes out and I'll likely be in Minot, North Dakota (where IMAX is five hours away in Winnipeg, Canada or Grand Forks).

my friend and I are the only people I know who think Interstellar looks completely bland and uninteresting. Ill wait to watch at home if that.

Some people can see behind the comic timing and visual effects to find a tired and worn Marvel formula with a paper-thin villain and predetermined plot points.
