Per the placeholder here, due on June 18 from Italian label Cult Video. As many know, the recent Japanese Paramount release, seemingly derived from a new scan/master, eclipses all previous releases including its North American Dragon Dynasty counterpart. But for a film with such prominent grain, the average (Japanese) video bitrate of about 20mbps seems pretty mediocre (Yes, I know, that is NOT everything). Anyway, it will be interesting to see what Italy brings to the table.

Maybe it can be added to the list of the other two HK films which have gotten proper releases, or the 300+ which haven't. HK fandom is such a bummer.

It's interesting that it has Italian and English, but no original Cantonese audio. I guess someone is going to have to take one for the team to see if this uses the US blu as the source or the Japanese blu.

That is odd and disappointing with the audio, assuming it's accurate. The fact that some of this label's other releases apparently sport English subs (at least according to their listings here) had me sort of excited...

Same old lousy upscale I'm afraid. As the pack said 1.78:1 I was hoping this would use the Japanese transfer, but it is 1.85:1. Avoid.

I'm guessing no version of this has a proper HD transfer and mono with English subtitles?

I live in fear of having that kind of thing because of the legal issues surrounding it. But if the studios aren't going to do it properly, you can hardly blame the fans.

The japanese version has a proper HD-Transfer...much better than the US-version. I ordered the italian one and i'm very sure this one has the same transfer on it...

If you read the thread, you'd know that it isn't the same as the JP release.
