So, I take it they're doing a new "reimagined" remake, where Jason actually appears in the first movie, AND wears a mask?

(ISTR it was a burlap sack in the second movie, until the third movie came out after Road Warrior...)

Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes production company is relaunching the "Friday the 13th" series, much as they recently did with "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," mixing the first several films with brand-new elements to once again resurrect Jason (this time, thankfully, without the help of a lightning bolt).

In this re-imaging movie, he will start off with the sack, and then acquire the mask.

Ah, we'll see. Child actors usually are terrible. I'll wait until I see some footage. Of course, this kid can't do any worse than that chubby kid who was supposed to be a young Michael Myers in Zombie's version. What a joke.

is anyone else thinking "oscar" next year?

Im a huge 13th fan (and Nightmare), as I grew up on this stuff in the 80s-early 90s......I just hope they make a good Jason, not that crap in Jason X or Jason Goes to Hell but an actual good Jason....Im hoping for a more human like Jason unlike the brought-back-to-life Jason from Fridays 5-7 (and technically 8)...sure the I cant die because im the undead Jason is fun but I enjoy in the Jason from 2-4 more since they seem more real to me maybe since they are not a zombie...

on a side note, I hope they make a badass videogame about Friday (the NES port was ok, I beat it when I was 6 and had fun doing so, then I played it in college again and I was like "WTF was I sitting for days trying to beat this game, im bored already") A good Friday game can be done!!

Just like what Frettless5 said, it would be better if they would let Rob Zombie direct the film. Why??? Just watch his previous film...Halloween and compare it to the older version.

But, seeing as the whole point of it being MADE in the first place was New Line--who bought the "Jason" name but not the franchise, and thus gave us the aforementioned two--that's realistically not likely to happen.

(But the fact that it is NL means we're more likely to get the second reason it was made, ie. a continuation of the "slick editing" Texas Chainsaw franchise, and not the metalhead -isms of the Rob Zombie epics...
Which only came out of somebody else's aborted remake to begin with.)

Feel your pain, fellow 80's-survivor--
Was there ever a time I actually thought 16-bit NES movie-based games were cool?

This is just gonna suck, Jason X had great nudity scenes though, no doubt about that.

But this is just gonna be god awful, I can tell already -_-V Worse than that stupid Halloween remake.

New Line better not screw it up....have we heard anything about the story? Other that its an orgin story for Jason....I mean does Jason actually die asa child and comes back magically as a full grown undead adult? I wouldnt be surprised if thats what some screenwriter thought of and decided "This would be great!".........

Thats a tough call....hmmmm....a good movie based NES game?.....The Batman game was pretty good, tough as hell, I keep getting killed in the same spot when I was older as when I was younger...maturity does not help the gamers....but all i can think of is batman....I was a big fan of the Nightmare game until you realize almost everything in the game has nothing to do with the movie or even Freddy as the same goes for Friday...zombies? Flying Jason Mom head? Throw rocks at Jason and it kills him?....man, Jason was a big wimp in the game.....They could have made a Halloween game with vampires and werewolves and have you face Myers every now and then while throwing spatulas or what other household kitchen items one can think of...I would have been in the same ballpark with the other titles...

Oh, come on!!! You can't tell me that 'Jason X' doesn't deserve the credit of at least having THE BEST 'Friday The 13th' frag!!! When that chick gets dipped in nitro-clycerin and her head get pulverized agains a steel counter-top I nearly dropped a clavical!!! That was THE BEST KILL in ANY 'Friday The 13th' film to date.

Nevertheless, I do believe that this will be an entertaining remake... if nothing else.

No, I agree. Jason X sucked horribly.
