The fourth item bothers me. Turned that off straight away.

I am happy to add that 3D audio for Dolby TrueHD is finally supported as well.

Wait. I forgot. Was it only Dolby TrueHD 7.1 that had problems with 3D? Or was it TrueHD altogether? Either way, it's great to know it works now. But using the Dual shock 4 controller to control Blu-ray seems clumsy compared to PS3.

I'll stick with PS3 for Blu-rays for now.

It was any and all Dolby TrueHD 3D that has the issue on PS3. It only plays as Dolby Digital.

They still haven't fixed the lip sync issue when I bitstream HD-MA and have 1080/24p set to Automatic. I have to keep it turned off. It needs to be fixed.

Not sure but my PS4 might be going on the fritz.

I tried to do the update last night, got to the screen where it says its downloading and shows the progress but after 20 minutes there is no progress on the download. Lets me hit circle to go back and should download in the background but nothing shows up in my download list. I try to shut down the PS4 but instead of turning right off it seems to go to sleep with the white light on the top of the machine but nothing on screen, from there it wont turn back on from the PS4 controller or the button on the front. Let it sit for over an hour with the white light on top before having to unplug from the back. This is happened a few times over the last couple weeks

Not good.
Mine shut itself off last week in the middle of playing Destiny.
I think it might of over heated. Took a while before it would start up again.

Does anyone know if the blu-ray player has had an update in the past month or so? I watched Pain & Gain last night and the picture quality was brilliant. However, other BD's I've watched had a grainy image.

1.75 added 3D playback. That's about it.

Mine has done the same thing. Since then I've switched the power cord with the one on my PS3, air dusted the vents, and placed it out in the open. It's worked so far, but I'm still taking precautions. I'm still not quite sure if it was the system itself or the FW, as before the stability updates it would sometimes act a bit wonky.

Looks like Sony have a major update on the way, they seem to have been taking note of what a lot of us have been asking for and included a Folder option in the UI overhaul they will likely announce at Gamescom

Important to note that none of this is confirmed, so may still be hoax. But Sony conference is tomorrow so hopefully we'll find out then.

Default update 2.0 detailed

Update: Sony has expanded on its announcement in a PlayStation Blog post. The company says to think of Share Play as a "virtual couch" allowing for "an online local co-op experience" that doesn't require your friend to own the game in question. It also highlights the fact that this is the realization of the previously announced feature allowing a friend to take control of your game; if you're having trouble with something, you can have someone remotely take over and help you through it.

Also coming in the 2.0 update is a dedicated YouTube app, real-time activity feeds in the What's New section, and more that's still to be announced.

The 2.0 update is scheduled for release sometime this fall.

Original Story: During its Gamescom press conference today, Sony announced the details of the PlayStation 4's 2.0 system update. It introduces a variety of new features, the most signficant of which is called Share Play.

Details on exactly how Share Play will work weren't shared, but, put simply, it allows you to play local multiplayer games with a friend who is not physically with you. This works in two different ways. In one case, you can (virtually) hand off your controller to a friend as if you were both sitting in the same room, presumably so you could take turns with a single-player game. In the other case, you can invite someone to play a game's local multiplayer with you--again, without actually being in the same physical location. Share Play requires PlayStation Plus.

Other new features in the 2.0 update include the ability to search for PlayStation Network users by their real name, and a way to upload saved videos directly to YouTube (rather than just Facebook).

A release date for the 2.0 update was not announced.

I guess we'll get MP3 and CD support next year? Still, the YouTube app would be good. I wonder if it'll play HD videos.

I wonder if we will ever get MP3/CD support.

Doesn't seem like it at this rate. I'd rather just get USB HDD support and media playback.

Big fail if it doesn't. I hate that the PS3 doesn't. I really hope it has a better interface than the PS3 version as well. Typing using their pseudo-keyboard is awful

CD is unknown.

Most rumors point to MP3/ video playback support this winter (December -> Feb) and DLNA possibly sometime in 2015.
