I'm sorry you had to immediately resort to insults in attempt to express your differing opinion. And I'm sorry I didn't have the time nor funds 2 weeks ago to see the movie. I mean, seriously? Did you really make a thing of when I saw it? There were 20 other audience members in attendance. Most were probably seeing it for the first time. So, please, learn how to be a more compassionate person. Because right now, you're not being the best of yourself.

Marvel/Comic fanboy? No I am not. Fan of the Marvel films? Yes I am.

Not biased in any way, I genuinely thought this was the best movie that Marvel have done, and the characters just left me wanting more, not asking why we didn't get more.

A shoddy review, to a fantastic movie.
Your mind deceives your better judgement. I'm not any person to provoke rage. Unless you're a person (not you per se) quick to temper. My thoughts were simply to highlight my dissatisfactions with a few overall minor things. Yet they factor into past, as well as future endeavors by Marvel Studios and possibly for Sony & Fox.

I honestly didn't trash anything. I read over the past 3 weeks similar critiques. Perhaps not all in 1 view like mine, but I'm not alone in any of them individually. If you actually comprehended what I wrote, you'd be aware that I was making critiques to 4-5 valid points pertaining to the movie. And due to your lack of comprehension, you've completely misjudged me. I really enjoyed the movie, I tried to make it pretty clear by ending with words that best described my view. I think it's 1 of Marvel Studios better movies. But, to me, it's not at a #1 or #2 spot. It would possibly fall in the top 10, maybe even on #4 or #5 best. For me, Iron Man 1 & The Avengers still tie at #1 in my heart.

However, if you truly read it, truly can comprehend my shared thoughts -- you'd know the that your rude intentions are completely unnecessary. Because I brought up only 4-5 points that didn't jive with me.

Which were just these:

The first 30-40 minutes feeling disconnected.

Resorting to un-timely jokes during a moment of growth for a main character.

The execution a certain amount of time during the mid-point of the movie a bit better.

Actually giving interesting dynamics and character development to villains in Marvel Studios films. (The 5 that I mentioned are pretty much unanimously agreed upon - going by what I've read - to be the best Marvel Studios baddies.)

Give beloved actors better roles and/or more screen time/more to do. And not kill someone as well-known as Djimon Hounsou. Glenn Close was just used for her face & presence. John C. Reilly was there for some reason (I really enjoy his style too). Benicio del Toro was the only 1 to do something interesting, given the type of character the Collector is. And also actually had a real purpose to the story. They could've gotten anyone less well-known for Glenn Close, John C. Reilly and Djimon Hounsou's roles.

And I just took the time to elaborate to explain my views, that I already took the time to do last night. Which is why it's a somewhat long, in depth. I took my time to share my opinion on what I believe could've been executed a bit better than it is. But that's s'ok. Because I'd like clear up any misconceptions that developed during anyone's time while reading or just skimming/ignoring what I wrote.

Y'know, Marvel guys read forums. Do I think my views will get changes made? Who knows? But it's certainly not out the realm of possibility. Look at what happened to the Mandarin. It was retconned due to high dissatisfaction of a funny albeit unnecessary twist. But we're past that now with that specifically.

As you can hopefully now see - my thoughts on 5 specific points are minor to the overall actual movie that I did enjoy very much. I never trashed anything, I'm not a negative troll attempting to ruffle feathers. I wanted to share my thoughts and concerns, because I'd to see if anyone else here feels same way or not. And if you take the time to respectfully disagree without having to resort to personal insults or rudely edit my posts entirely for your own amusement; I'd be open to discussing our differing views in a respectful manner. Because most here are old enough and were taught better than how the past several members have reacted.

I'm sorry, am I being patronised? I am not being the best of myself because you're attention seeking caught me in a bad mood. Nevermind the many people I am friendly too, making them laugh, comforting them in hard times and helping them through day to day problems, apparently I now have to agree with everyone on the forum. I'd be fine if you asked for opinions on your writing or just essentially posting your thoughts, but telling me that it was 'important' sorry, I'm not taking it.

But I will put my hands up and apologise, I do see my posts were a bit rudimentary, you were just posting a review and I just took a problem with your heading, there was no need for that from me and for that I'm sorry.

I'm just going to try to focus on the better parts of your post there. To clarify 1 last time: I wasn't seeking attention just because that's what you think or thought. Also, just so you know, I wasn't trying to patronise anyone. I'm sure you're good guy. Like, I said, I meant for that moment in time for you. You're aware of your misconduct. Hopefully you won't reply to others when you're having an off day, hour, whatever. I do accept your apology. Not many would do that. So, thank you.

I only included that heading, because what I wrote is important to me. I didn't want what inevitably happened anyways. Because people seem to have a distaste for post longer than 1 or paragraphs in length. Hopefully my thoughts are fully understood with my previous post.

Did anyone also feel that the pacing of this movie was maybe to fast? I felt like it was hiccup-ping forward to fast or like it was a movie where...Bad car analogy coming. Where the director was having to run at 50mph then 20 mph then 100 mph, it felt like there were black-outs in the stories pacing/cutting/editing.

I enjoyed the movie but it felt funny or rushed. I felt like The Avengers had the far better pacing. I felt like Thor 2 and Cap 2 had smooth pacing as well. This movies pacing I felt like I was kinda on the scrambler at the fair.

This is the scrambler.
[Show spoiler]

I felt like the Director or his people above him made this movie and it should have been longer to develop the characters and scenes. I felt like James Gunn was like a mad carnie and just pulling the throttle slow to fast like a mad man throughout the movie. If that makes sense.

Glad to see GotG it was really good everyone should see it but I felt the pacing was glitchy. Not bad just different than what I was used to by TA, T2, and C2. If that makes sense.

I really hope the Blu-Ray has an extended directors cut like Watchmen later had. I even remember seeing articles where Gunn was saying he had to leave some good scenes out, and I think the upper ups got on his ass about time constraints or something cause it feels slightly off beat or rushed...oh I'm so redundant!

Comparing it to The Avengers, pacing wise, is like complaining a cake is much tastier than just eating raw eggs in water. Avengers had each character - near enough - introduced in their own films, Iron Man even got two films to be explored and the majority of the film was firmly ground in the "real" world by the time Avengers came around, the work was already done and they could just run with.

Guardians was working from scratch, with a bunch of characters unknown to a mass audience, in a completely alien world. It had to achieve more than the entire two Phases of Marvel in a single film.

Gee. If we do that for every movie, I'd be soooo damn broke. LOL! And Transformers Age of Extinction would earn $2 Billion.

Saw it again tonight with the wife, and just as good as the first time, if not better.

I was surprised that 2 weeks later the theater was pretty much full, even for a Friday night.

Just saw the movie a few days ago. The open matte in IMAX was beautiful. I kept thinking to myself that it'll be a shame once this movie reaches Blu-ray. Just like with Transformers, we probably won't be getting the shifting aspect ratios.
All I kept thinking was why they did so much in open matte, why both cropping the image at all.half the movie is open matte so why didn't they stick too the nicer open matte ratio for the entire movie.

Yeah I found whole new things to enjoy the second time around, which is why I'm eager to explore the film again.

What if I told you before The Avengers, the only Marvel movie I had seen was Thor 1. True Story.

I still haven't seen the Iron Man 1 and 2, only half of part 3 which I never finished it yet. Only just watched Cap 2 a week or 2 ago, dunno what happened in part 1 not really my thing. After The Avengers I also watched Thor 2. Still haven't seen Edward Norton in Hulk, and don't care to, for that matter.

I see where your opinion is coming from though. Only saw Thor before Avengers though, which was enough character development for me personally.

Not sure if this has been posted already.

"Guardians of the Galaxy" is set to take over "Transformers: Age of Extinction" as summer's biggest domestic hit.

Quote:
“Guardians of Galaxy” has skyrocketed past the $200 million mark at the box office.

Disney-Marvel’s intergalactic pic reached the epic milestone on Friday, in just 15 days, and will haul as much as $221 million by Sunday. After opening to a whopping $94.3 million (and crushing the record for August’s top debut), “Guardians” has been runner-up to “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” at the box office for the last two consecutive weekends.

“Guardians” earned $7 million on Friday en route for a $23 million weekend.

The sci-fi adventure about a rag-tag group of heroes, which cost $170 million to produce, is a hit with both critics and audiences, earning 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.

It’s directed by James Gunn and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper (the voice of Rocket) and Vin Diesel (the voice of Groot). A sequel has already been slated for July 28, 2017.

“Guardians” is on its way to becoming the top summer film Stateside. Paramount’s “Transformers: Age of Extinction” is the current domestic leader with $243.1 million. The fourth pic in Michael Bay’s growing franchise is also the only movie to cross $1 billion worldwide this year, having earned most of its money (over 75%) overseas.

With $236.4 million, Disney’s “Maleficent” is the summer’s current no. 2 movie. Fox’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past” is third with $232.2 million, “Guardians” is fourth based on Friday figures with $204.5 million and Sony’s “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ rounds out the top five with $202.8 million.

What's the deal with GotG overseas Box office?

Did it open later overseas than other marvel movies?

Or is there less appeal for it overseas for some reason?

of course there is less appeal.

Here in the US the tickets were driven by having too good reviews & hipster mentality of liking something cool that no one else knows…

IMO the movie was a good summer movie, nothing incredible but good summer fun movie. Great for kids-teens though.

Well...I did like Guardians before it was announced. Doesn't make me a hipster though. I'm glad to see these characters being brought to the masses. That's the opposite of hipster mentality.

Indeed. Some people just like to make excuses for the movie doing well.
