Where’s Deci ?
Wow, that's going to be a lot of work repeated. I remember viewing the process of restoring one film (Snow White in the bonus materials?). I believe that someone remarked on how much dirt they must have tolerated in the original film, shaking their head.

As for Deci, I expect Lucy will have a lot of 'splainin to do.

Hey PM

Could you tell the studios to try and offer standard blu ray cases with their special editions and tv shows? Sopranos, Close Encounters, Battlestar Galactica, Warner's Books, Dirty Harry Box all came in cases that clash with the other titles on my shelf. I appreciate the snazzy packaging but I'd prefer the blu cases. Lost did it right by offering both. Same with Harry Potter. I love the Books but they're slightly taller than the blu ray cases.

I know this is a very minor problem and nothing serious but if there's anything you can do. Thanks

I would like to second that request ... However, my copy of "Lost: Season 3" came in a keepcase that was housed inside a very sturdy cardboard sleeve. It was first-class all the way. My problem with digi-paks and digi-books was realized again this past week when I received my copy of Warner's Popeye the Sailor 1933-1938. It was obviously dropped because a corner of the package was dog-eared (something I didn't notice in my eagerness to unwrap it). And to my dismay, disc 3 was floating inside the package because the spindle had been damaged. In my opinion, cardboard and the glued-in trays are very susceptible to damage. If they must snazz up the packaging, put the keepcase in a tin can like the Disney treasures or make a 'nifty' metallic slip cover that some of us can choose to pitch.

I second this, the big reason I haven't bought the Dirty Harry collection is I am waiting for them to be released seperately! I keep looking at how well, ugly the set looks and how out of place it will be on my shelf. I don't mind large cases like Blade Runner, but I'm digging the utterly uniform look of all the cases. I know that I will eventually break down and buy it, but I will probably end up hiding it on the bottom shelf to not break up the uniformality of my shelves.

Also, I've noticed Lionsgate only uses silver on their spines, is this something they plan to keep doing? I actually sort of dig it because they stick out, and I instantly know which ones are my Lionsgate movies. I think it would be pretty cool if all the studios picked their own colour and kept to it.

Right now, that's apparently the match everyone wants to see, although I think we could only cross them in semi finals...

I get ticket for the first quarter of final, Portugal against Germany.
That should be a nice game...

By the way tonight it's France against Italia, and it could also be a interesting game...

The BBC page explaining the different permutations is hilarious reading, given all the different scenarios. If you ignore the difference between 3rd and 4th, it's a lot simpler, but even so the prospect of Italy defending a 1-goal lead for 40 mins only to have Romania score a Turkey-esque late winner makes this a must.

20 mins to kick-off!

So, they end up missing out on a great film at home just because of reading the online negative hype……much of which is by people that have never seen the prior home media edition (DVD).
There is no negative hype from me.....I watched Patton this weekend on a 150" screen with an Epson 1080p projector at 24fps, and I have never seen the movie look so good. Same with The Sand Pebbles and Longest Day. For those seeing all of the negative hype, judge for yourself, and don't let these negative remarks stop you from seeing such great classics that I think look stunning. If Fox did anything with the process of transfer, to be honest, and I may get negative remarks slammed at me for this, I say to Fox: Wow these movies look great, and have drafted a letter to Fox telling them exactly that!

Hey Penton,

any thoughts on Toshiba's persistent refusal to join the BDA? Head stuck in the sand? Toshiba leadership just unwilling to commit seppuku?

1st Class all the way. I think all Blade Runner freaks were fulfilled.
I’m looking forward to your write-up.

Back in the day, in my humble way, I was actually one of the lucky recipients of a Swiss Army knife that Michael Deeley handed out afterwards to some people who were associated with the production. I’ve looked everywhere in our house for it, as it’s quite a collectible (it has “Blade Runner 1981” inscribed in the red side plate ) but, I can’t find it. All I can think of is that it’s in our beach house down San Diego way. If I’m successful in hunting it up, I’ll send it on over to Bill Hunt for an e-bay auction with proceeds going to Paul’s Brain Trust.

For those who might be a tad embarrassed to ask (like our on staff Brain Sturgeon) but, are truly concerned about one of the most important things, namely Paul’s management……..
He is receiving the best of care our region has to offer, namely at Cedars in L.A. and City of Hope Hospital in L.A. County.

Which reminds me………will the winner of the Winn contest either post here on this thread or PM me that you actually received the schwag that I promised to the winner of said contest.
One of the other (by "other", I mean other than my A.A.) administrative assistants in the house mailed it and I’d just like to confirm that you did indeed receive it.

I think it has the potential to be a good match because at this point, both countries are fighting for their lives !
Nobody say anything about the score, as I’m taping it!

On a side note, does anybody know if anyone has calculated which Premier league in Europe has the most players making up the squads for all the countries that have made it this far in the Euro Cup. I mean, is it the Prem in England, Serie A or La Liga ?

And does anyone know what club team (Arsenal ?, Man U ?, Real Madrid ?, etc.) has bragging rights to most of the players that we’re seeing in the Euro Cup?
Just wondering.

I don’t mind measured input regarding opinions in regards to picture or audio quality on any solitary Blu-ray title but, I despise contrived internet campaigns that serve no productive purpose in the end.

I love any guy who can applaud one company (Toshiba) for going back and RENOVATING a technology (or trying to anyway), but complaining that:

Quote:
It's natural but very sad that their greed and laziness to innovate are costing everyone technological progress.
He's referring to CEs (other than Toshiba). Isn't Toshiba the one that's NOT trying to innovate by sticking with DVD?

Now, back to your regularly scheduled Football (Soccer) talk!

[Show spoiler][Pause] DON'T LOOK, PENTON!!

Arsenal: Fabregas, Van Persie
Manchester United: Ronaldo, Van der Sar, Nani
Chelsea: Ferreira, Carvalho, Boswinga, Boulahrouz
Liverpool: Kuyt, Alonso, Arbeloa, Torres, Reina

It's Liverpool after today's result, and will be until Spain go out. I suspect the final will be Portugal-Netherlands, so Chelsea will have most, followed by United.

Did I miss any?

Look like it's Barcelona, Real Madrid, Werder Bremen and Bayern Munich with eight each.
