Default Should I buy another hdmi cable

I have a Sony KDL-46V3000 LCD TV. When I bought my Sony BDPS300 blu ray player I bought the Monster Cable Ultra 1000 HDMI cable. Would it be worth buying the Monster M Series M1000 HDMI cable to replace the other.

...its not worth buying a Monster HDMI cable at all (unless you can get one heck of a deal).

I have that same tv and I have two HDMI cables. I have a monoprice 6ft 1.3a cable(~$22) and a monster M1000 cable($150). They look EXACTLY the same. Don't get fooled by the hype like I did, the quality of the cable does not matter with digital signals.

Everyone pretty much covered it.

Monoprice.com = stupid cheap and wicked quality.

I don't even understand these NON COMISSION bestbuy sales people trying to push overpriced crap on people!?!?!?

At least at places like Guitar Center, you know that they are trying to sell you
a 400.00 Hamer home Depot special because they get 35% on it, but BestBuy
blows me away with those BS cables. There is absolutely NOTHING in it for them and they just try to bleed you for sport.

Like that dude from Newjack City said:

"You killin yo owwwwwwwwwwwwwn peeeeeeeeeeople!!!"

Odds are your system is fine.

Enjoy in good health,

Default BDP-S300 Set Up Advice

Greetings,
I recently purchased a BDP-S300 & so far I am content with it. After updating the firmware to 3.90 I stumbled on this wonderful site in hopes to get my Blu-ray experiance to where I want it to be. Anyways, my question pertains to the usage of HDMI & Optical cables. Currently, I have my S300 connected via HDMI to my Sony STR-DG720 (AVR) which is then connected via HDMI to my SONY KDL52W4100. I have a 5.1 speaker set-up. The picture and sound is stunning! However, I've been reading that it MIGHT be better to utilize a Tosi-Link to transmit sound to my AVR. Also what are the optimal settings in regards to audio oput for the S300. Any advice given will be greatly appriciated! Thanks!

HDMI cable is all you need for audio.

The quality will reach its full potential...Optical (Toslink) is limited.

Set S300 to LPCM.

Unfortunately, with your current setup, neither your player nor your AVR can decode the new HD audio codecs. Still, to get the best sound with what you've got, listen to that guy above. He knows what he's talkin' about.

With the question as to why the non-commissioned sales staff at Best Buy and Circuit City etc.. try to push monster cable, it all comes down to Gross Margin. The store will make literally pennies or nothing on the sale of hardware because there is no mark up. However the markup on Cables, wiring etc is often in the 75-80% so that Monster cable that you paid $120 for, probably cost the store $30-ish, resulting in an $80 profit. As a former retail manager, I can remember being told about "add-on" sales because if someone comes in and buys a piece of hardware, no add-on's and uses an American Express card, the store would actually LOSE money.
