You would think......first time was bad enough, but to allow this a 2nd time is unacceptable.

What are we paying for with PSN? Not upgraded security, apparently

Getting a Distributed Denial of Service attack is basically getting your network flooded with garbage information that then clogs up the information flow from legitimate users. It has nothing to do with your login security (which is what a hack is).

People use the term hack to mean, 'service being screwed with by bored 13 year olds....'

There's no way to protect yourself 100% against a ddos attack. No matter how much money you have.

It's reported that this same group is also attacking Blizzard, Riot (LoL) and Grinding gears.

Apparently earlier last week they also DDos the East coast servers of Valve...

Now that this same group of morons has more or less shown themselves as sympathizers with ISIL (wether as a joke or not), welcome on the CIA and NSA watchlists?

Incredibly stupid thing to do. You can risk jail time for just carrying out a DDOS, but link yourself to a terrorist group as well? Asking for long, long sentences.

Did you even read my post? Sigh. People are idiots.

Again, this is NOT a security issue. There is no "hacking" happening here. You don't get to redefine a term that has been in use and defined for decades just because you're too clueless to know the right definition.

A DDoS is the equivalent of a hundred thousand spammers sending you junk email. They aren't hacking your account, they're just flooding your inbox so that the actual mail you want to recieve is hard to find and arrives late (if at all).

The only thing you can do to defend against a DDoS is try and block the traffic from the offending senders, but modern DDoS attacks often use computers compromised by viruses, so the data flood often comes from what would otherwise look like legitimate locations.

Sony's up and running, unfortunately these people are also ddosing internet routers around the country at the moment, so if your "path" to Sony runs through a place that has not fixed it yet you still can't get in.

*EDIT* Per Smedley anyway, I still can't get in.
