The ship sinking at the end of Titanic. Totally ruined an otherwise enjoyable romantic comedy.

I remember some kid in the theatre being really upset about having the ending ruined when somebody mentioned the ship sinking before he movie started.

Chinatown - yep that probably nails it.

Memento certainly makes you think too.

In terms of what the movie intended, I'd say it was one I just watched recently called "The Skin I Live In". I'm tellin' ya, it is on the same level of impact as Oldboy's reveal. And to be honest, I wish people would just watch it without having to know that there is a twist. It's a very well made film.

Outside of the theatre I think figuring out the family connections in "Sleep Away Camp" and what the shoe tree joke was in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" were probably the most mind blowing.

That's what I love about the movie. But in truth, the movie does make you wonder about the true identity of Soze.
[Show spoiler]Sure, the movie's primarily set from the perspective of Kint, and the story he tells of his involvement with the incident leaving him and a Hungarian gang member the only witness to is shaky...very shaky. We then see at the end that he's picked up by the lawyer "Kobayashi". Now, a name like that associated with the fellow playing him is obviously using an alias. But the alias is just so out there that trying to find a definitive pattern to identify the man's true identity is what's brilliant. So here's possibilities:

1) Verbal is Soze, and Koba is his link between the men he commissions the jobs to and himself. Even if Verbal is present when it goes down, Koba pretends not to know him and just does what he is told.

2) Koba is Soze, and Verbal is his herald, his inside man that ensures any job set up with Soze in mind is controlled and monitored. Far as we know, this job that involved Keaton and the other guys was supposed to leave no witnesses. However, Kovaz (the only other witness to the incident) was alive but in critical condition. It'd be easy to see the man dealt with, and with no witnesses or evidence against Kint's testimony, there'd be no case.

3) Verbal and Koba are both Soze. What better way to craft a legendary figure than to have a game going involving a very tight knit pair of cunning and clever men? They trade information off on one another, and do not let any personal opinion dictate proper choice making.
