Default HD Digest - Lose The HD DVD Tab!!

Anyone think they'll axe the HD DVD tab over at hidefdigest after next week? The last two scheduled HD DVD titles are streeting next Tuesday. After that, there should be no reason at all to have an HD DVD section on the site. I mean, there's already pretty much no reason to, but after next Tuesday, it'll be official. Needless to say, the reviews and such would still need to be accessible, but there will be no HD DVD "news" to speak of...or any upcoming titles at all...so why keep the site broken up into sections? Anyway...just a thought. What do you guys think?

Actually I think there is still one title due out in August. Freedom or something like that. I could be wrong but that's what I heard.

Nope. "Disco Pigs" and "Freedom 6" are both due out next Tuesday, at least according to the site's release list:

Are there any foreign HD-DVDs coming out because they review those often? Regardless, I don't see them getting rid of the HD-DVD tab anytime soon. There are still a lot of fans of the format and there really isn't a reason to get rid of that section.

Yep, I've read it too... I guess it's "Freedom: 7" or something like that...

I'm not sure. I will look into this.

EDIT: Damn! I guess you're right. Here's the rundown. Guess Oct. 20 is truly HD DEATH day. Man, it would have been so fitting if that "Death Proof" release was the last HD DVD title ever. Oh, well. LOL

Jun 24, 2008
Disco Pigs
Freedom 6

June 30, 2008
Death Proof (German release)
Torchwood-Series 1 (UK release)

Aug 19, 2008
Freedom 7

Oct 20, 2008
Trainspotting (UK release)

There are still laserdisc fans, too, but that format doesn't warrant a place on a next-gen site any more than HD DVD does at this point. Both had (and continue to have) their advocates, but both are now dead.

If you get rid of the "HD DVD" tab, you really don't need a "Blu-ray" tab, either. In fact, you can also get rid of the "Main" tab as that site will become nothing but Blu-ray in the days to come.

Yeah, that's the basic idea. No "Blu-ray" tab, no "HD DVD" tab, no "Main" tab. There's just no need for the separation anymore is my point.

That whole site is virtually a joke. HD DVD has been effectively dead for months now and they haven't even inched their way to Blu-ray credibility yet. I don't care if they continue to have a HD DVD section but they need to eliminate the awful smackdown section which serves no purpose now that Blu-ray put the ultimate smackdown on HD DVD.

The only difference is LD had a much longer lifetime, selling many more players and software.
