Gratuitous nudity is a poor box office draw. We already have the internet for that.

I'm not all that surprised at this movie's failure. It's YEARS overdue, and Miller's best Sin City stories were already used in the first movie.

Eva Green is a fantastic actress her willing to do nudity is just a nice bonus package

The problem to me seems like they marketed the film towards those who where already going to see it. Meaning there marketing failed to get anyone but the fanboy/girl interested. I felt the same way regarding Kick-Ass 2 last year.

Agreed on all fronts.

That being said, I will not be surprised if we dont see a 3D blu release. HOPE I'M WRONG!!

In America I have no idea. But there will be on in Australia and basically everywhere else in the world. America's blu-rays are just in a weird state at the moment. Hell, when I view WB doing a better job then Disney overall with home releases something is very strange indeed.

The end of August is a tough time to get a good box office since a lot of people are going back to school or college and the parents who might have seen this are focused on that. It's a select genre/style of film, like film noir or something along those lines and will have limited appeal I'd guess to main stream audiences. I'm surprised Expendables 3 lost out in theaters, but will likely do better on home video. They went to PG13, so that probably had something to do with it. I enjoyed it, this was good also.

I didn't see any of the ads on TV, but agree, the marketing makes a difference who they're gearing it for. John Carter was marketing for action fans, but didn't show the story line which was the movie's first strength for the previews.

The faces did convey dimension, but the 3D didn't pop in layering like I was hoping the faces would. Good mild to medium 3D faces even so, and I have to see it again, though the close ups couldn't compare to the zoomed out 3D shots which stole the show in 3D.

Willis did appear here but only briefly as a cameo. I like how they connected the two movies together with the story. The story revolved around Eva Green being the Dame in the title. She was an effective manipulator.

There is a 3d version listed right here on this site. I saw the movie yesterday and the 3d is terrific and really accentuates the beautifully stylistic look of the movie. The story is ludicrous but that's intentional. The powerful visual imagery is what carries this film.

Yeah, this is definitely one of the best examples of a live-action comic book. Only thing I wondered about is why they made the blood white instead of red since this was rated R to begin with? That would be my only real disappointment. The 3D was nicely done though, agree.

It was white in the first film and comic as well. It is a stylistic choice, everything but a few select things are black and white. Blood is not one of those few select things for the most part. I think it looked great in the first film (second one isn't out where I live yet).

I WILL buy the 3D blu release (regardless how it performed at the box office and mixed word of mouth about the 3D) for:

1) EVA GREEN
2) JESSICA ALBA
3) 1.85:1 benefits a 3D presentation GREATLY in the immersion factor
4) Visuals in this movie SCREAMS for a 3D blu release

I think there is a GOOD chance of seeing this get a home release before the holidays now..considering how poorly it has done at the b-o. Great time for them to try and recoup some of the losses, imo. We shall see.
