Went for one last viewing (probably not) of GotG in IMAX 3D, bringing my total viewing count of 4 while in theaters, all within a month. And damn, was that theater room jam packed for a movie that's been out for 4 weeks!

Thankfully, many people hadn't seen the film yet, as they were responding to the jokes as if for the first time. Made for a fresh and fun experience, like I was seeing it all again for the very first time as well.

With all those people paying the premium prices for IMAX, and certainly many more around the country, I suspect GotG will have no problems adding more money to their pockets over this weekend.

So the question now is: Do I go for the magical 5th?

We need to get Al Pacino in a Marvel movie now. The time is right!

A snippet of an interview from the Venice Film Festival:

Quote:
“I don’t have much to say about Hollywood because basically a movie is a movie, a film is a film. I don’t know it, and I never did know what Hollywood does. Apparently, it’s in LA,” said the die-hard New Yorker. He talked about the old days of Tinseltown, before his time, when the industry “exchanged ideas, there was communication… To me, that is no longer there, but that’s only natural.” With different people running the studios, it’s “no better or worse; they’re doing some great stuff,” he said. He then got a big hoot out of the audience when he gave Marvel and Disney a plug: “I just saw Guardians Of The Galaxy… It was amazing. I did find it the most entertaining, inventive, beautiful film. So I’m not anti-that at all.”

Maybe they can cast him as Peter Quill's Dad in Guardians Of The Galaxy 2.

This makes me wonder if IMAX will show both GOTG and Forrest Gump on their screens starting on Friday instead of showing only Forrest Gump.

Don't think so. Already checked the Fandango app, and all of next weekend is dedicated to Forrest Gump in IMAX, at least at my local AMC anyway.

So from the way it looks, unless AMC is bringing back GotG in IMAX after the limited run of Forrest Gump, this week is the time to take advantage and catch up with the film.

I've gone 8 times total, once in IMAX 3D, plan to make at least 3 more. We'll see what happens, starting another job soon which should make it easier for me to go see movies when I want to.

no where near has showings in IMAX anymore so if I go for the slightly obsessive 5th viewing it will likely be standard 2D

I wanna see it in IMAX again

You're not gonna try to beat your record for repeat viewings (Catching Fire)?

Finally saw GotG today and I don't feel the movie lived up to all the hype from most people here. I thought a lot of the humor was a bit forced and didn't come across as funny as it could have, but overall I loved the movie. Not as good as the Avengers but about par with Thor 2 (and I liked Thor 2 so that's a compliment)

Catching Fire would be pretty hard to beat at 14, especially since that's going up when I attend a marathon to see all 3 HG films in theatres in November.

Don't mention 'hype', people are very sensitive about that here. It offends them.

This would have been the best Stan Lee cameo to date:

Quote:
Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn popped up at Dragon Con in Atlanta this weekend and confirmed that neither Ms. Marvel or any other Earth-based superhero will join the Guardians in the upcoming sequel.

According to Collider, Gunn says he is steering clear of 'Earthlings', so that the main focus can be kept on Star-Lord in the next film. However, he does seem to think that Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel/Captain Marvel) will likely come to the big screen in other Marvel films and it "will be sooner rather than later". Meanwhile, he says the Guardians sequel offers him the opportunity to introduce plenty of other female characters.

Gunn also described the plan he had for Stan Lee's cameo, something that Disney rejected. The idea was Lee was to be one of the Collector's exhibits. Groot would look at him, only to receive a middle finger back in response from Lee.

Speaking of Lee, the comic legend appeared at the Fan Expo Canada on Friday and seemingly confirmed that a "Black Panther" movie is in active development. He tells CBR: "The chances are she will have her own movie because eventually all the superheroes are going to have their own movies. They are already working on Ant-Man, Doctor Strange and the Black Panther, and there are others I am not allowed to talk about."

I would've enjoyed that more than Star Lord's gesture in the machine.

I saw GOTG on opening weekend and I was worried that it wouldn't be as good as everyone was saying but I really enjoyed the movie all around. My only critique I would give is that Ronan just didn't seem to have a big enough roll in the movie.

Aside from that, I was pretty happy with it and I'm looking forward to the sequel.
