I also have a Pioneer Elite - the Pro-151 - and I just got the 79" Sony UHD. I don't want to wait for them to squeeze the life out of everybody for a decent-sized OLED - I probably paid half of what it will cost for a 77" OLED, and what I really want is something around 100" or better. The picture is fine with me (there is some flashlighting if you drive it like a Death Star laser beam, but otherwise it's marvelous) and colors beat the pants off anything I've seen from LG or Samsung, regardless of technology. It's an element that gets short shrift in most of these comparisons. It's not just buying an OLED; it's actually paying for it that gives me heartburn. They need to standardize the technology, give these units some size that makes the 4k/UHD worth it, and pump them out. OLED just lost a sale... |
