Def a good sign
Curious what this will mean for the A's. They're going to have to tear down the Coliseum for the Raiders new stadium, and there's no way they're going to be able to build a dual football/baseball stadium or a stadium for both teams. Looks like the new baseball commissioner is going to have to finally make a ruling on the A's moving to San Jose or the A's are going to need to start looking at alternate locations.

This is also nowhere near a done deal. There's going to be a lot of opposition once people realize how much this stadium is going to cost the taxpayers. The linked story estimates it would cost the taxpayers about $1.1 billion to build a new stadium, and believes that the A's owner, who is willing to pay for a new stadium and pay off the debt on the Coliseum, may be the better option.

Pete Carroll was just seen leaving a meeting with the refs for tonight's game. He wanted to make sure that Seattle's defensive backs are still going to be able to mug, tackle and body slam receivers 15 - 20 yards down the field again this season.

Guessing this won't pay as much as the NFL:

Quote:
#Browns WR Josh Gordon has a new job. He will be the goodwill ambassador for the Sarchione Auto group in Randolph, Ohio, which includes Sarchione Ford and Sarchione Chevrolet . He will be working in all aspects of their car business including as an on-floor salesman. Gordon will also be heading all of their local community efforts including with the Wounded Warriors Project. He starts this weekend.

Good for him. This is exactly what he should do instead of sitting at home sulking. Be visual in the community, talking with folks, helping local businesses.

Well I've already made my decision on Gordon, based on his troubled history. This is a small step in the right direction, we'll see what becomes of it. Sorry, but I can't help thinking his agent is literally dragging him to this thing, and that Gordon is just "going through the motions" here.
Sure hope I'm wrong, but I suspect I'm not.

My blood was boiling last night when I found out we have to attend an engagement party Sunday. I was very pissed off most of the evening until I actually looked at the invitation which was dated October 12 in the evening. I got upset for nothing and I can live with that but not during kickoff weekend! I still got in trouble for throwing a fit about not wanting to go but it's freakin FOOTBALL GD!!

Lol, I know. Nah their wedding is next October so I'm good.

Been watching the NFL since 1992 when I was in the 3rd grade, and NEVER missed a kickoff weekend.

The game we lost at Seattle in 2012 was BS, damn Brady and his 10 second run off at the end of the half lost that game by 1 point!!!

Lions may be scraping the bottom of the barrell here

Quote:

Free agent CB Champ Bailey is working out for the Lions Thursday.

Bailey was released by the Saints at final cuts on Saturday. But the 36-year-old is not ready to hang it up yet, and we saw enough left in the tank in 2012 to think the future Hall of Famer can help a needy team like the Lions that's set to start Rashean Mathis and Darius Slay at corner.

I'm very curious to see how this unfolds as well, I know the deal is no where close to being done, but at least its positive step in the right direction. Hopefully something gets done in the near future.

I see nothing wrong with this, and agree 100%. I just start feeding the wife shoe/purse sales going on kickoff weekend...works like a charm. Plus everyone wins!

The last regular season game that I missed voluntarily was JJ's first year in Miami. I agreed to go camping on Labor day... Glad they moved the kickoff until a week later.

Only other games I've missed were due to rescheduled Hurricane games that weren't shown anywhere in Canada.
